    • The present invention relates to a method and to an apparatus for encoding/decoding motion vectors of a plurality of reference pictures. The present invention provides a motion vector encoding apparatus comprising: an optimum motion vector determination unit which determines an optimum motion vector for a plurality of reference pictures for the present motion vector of the present block; a motion vector encoding mode determination unit which determines a motion vector encoding mode in accordance with whether the motion vector encoding apparatus may or may not predict the optimum motion vector for the plurality of reference pictures; and a motion vector encoding unit which generates motion information for the plurality of reference pictures by using the optimum motion vector for the plurality of reference pictures or a default motion vector for a plurality of preset reference pictures in accordance with the motion vector encoding mode, encodes the motion information, and encodes the motion vector encoding mode to generate motion vector encoding data. The present invention improves the accuracy of the predicted motion vector of the present motion vector for the plurality of reference vectors, and reduces the bit rate required for motion vector encoding, thus achieving improved compression efficiency.

    • The present invention relates to a moving picture encoder, a 2D alignment transformation device and method of an image signal for the same, and a recording medium therefor. The 2D alignment transformation device of an image signal according to the present invention comprises: a horizontal alignment section which horizontally aligns pixels of an image block in the order of size in the horizontal direction; a vertical alignment section which vertically aligns pixels of the image block in the vertical direction; and an index map generator which generates an index map for original positions of the horizontally and vertically aligned pixels. As any image signals can be rearranged as 2D-aligned image signals in the order of size and these aligned image signals can efficiently remove non-continuous points of existing images, energy concentration effects of block-based transformation techniques, such as DCT etc. are enhanced and coding efficiency can thus be maximized.

    • The present invention relates to a motion picture encoding/decoding apparatus, an adaptive deblocking filtering apparatus and a filtering method for same, and a recording medium. The deblocking filtering apparatus according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises: a boundary intensity determination unit which determines the intensity of the boundary between sub-blocks of the present block; a direction selection unit which sequentially selects directions one by one from among a plurality of directions which are preset on the basis of the boundary; a pixel selection unit which selects pixels to be filtered on the basis of the selected direction; a filtering determination unit which determines whether or not to perform filtering in the selected direction in accordance with the relationship among pixel values of the selected pixels; and a filtering unit which performs filtering on the selected pixels in the selected directions in accordance with the result of the determination of the filtering determination unit. The present invention subjects pixel-wide deblocking filtering in a plurality of directions as well as in vertical and horizontal directions, thus effectively removing block distortions resulting from a diagonal discontinuity caused by edges in a plurality of diagonal directions.
