    • A conflict handler (36) and process for selecting non-conflicting objects; comprising: (i) building an ordered list of conflict precedences; (ii) assigning the next object on the ordered list as a current object; (iii) identifying any conflict pairs containing the current object; (iv) determining whether any objects in the identified conflicting pairs have already been selected as one of the plurality of non-conflicting objects; (v-a) if no, adding the current object to the plurality of non-conflicting objects; or if yes, not adding the current object to the plurality of non-conflicting objects; (vi) repeating steps (ii) to (v) until all the objects have been processed; and (vii) adding objects not included in the ordered list to the plurality of non-conflicting objects; thereby providing the final plurality of non-conflicting objects. Objects may be on a final non-conflicting objects list despite losing out to one or more other objects in one-to-one conflict pairs.

    • The present invention relates to a food fryer. The food fryer comprises a frying section where the food is fried in oil and an oil removal section where the oil content of the food is reduced. A basket located within the apparatus contains the food and is movable between the two sections. At least one motor is operable to remove oil content from the food and to move the basket between the two sections, and a controller communicates with the motor and other elements of the apparatus to facilitate the frying of the food. Exemplary embodiments of the invention provide methods for minimizing a cooling rate of the cooked food to prevent oil from gathering in the center of the cooked food and to increase the desirability of the cooked food. A cover that is sealably connected to the food frying apparatus aids in maintaining a temperature in the frying and oil removal environments that is higher than room temperature. A heating element in the oil removal section may also aid in maintaining a desirable temperature in the oil removal section. Systems for frying food according to embodiments of the invention comprise filtering systems, fire suppression systems, and/or ventilation systems. These systems may also comprise multiple food frying apparatuses.

    • The present invention relates to pattern games in the form of pyramids and other shapes. The pattern games are conducted in a central location or in a plurality of locations. A variety of different gaming entities such as state run lotteries, Internet based gambling websites, and multiple location gaming operations may implement the pattern-type game. In various embodiments of the invention, contestant are issued game cards. The game cards may be dispensed at point of sale terminals, via the Internet, by mail or via other methodology. In other embodiments, numbers or values of the games are drawn and presented to contestant via radio, television, the Internet, closed circuit television or other conventional mechanisms for presenting lottery of gaming information to contestants.

    • A spacer sheet for use together with another spacer sheet between adjacent membranes (17) in a fluid separation cell, for example an electrodialysis cell, has an open centre (2), conduit passages (8 and 9) for the supply and withdrawal of fluid to the chamber formed by the open centre (2) between the membranes (17), and slots consisting of an offset slot stem (13) and a narrow mouth (14) opening into either the open centre (2) or the conduit passage (8 or 9). The slots of the 2 sheets of a spacer assembly cooperate to provide a passage for fluid between the conduit passage and the open centre. Identical spacer assemblies may be used between membranes in adjacent cell pairs by positioning them mutually perpendicular. The new spacers are suitable for use in an electrodialysis cell for use in a new method in which ions are removed from a liquid mixture comprising water and a water-miscible organic liquid. The deionised liquid is concentrated and used downhole, for example in the recovery of methane.
