    • A electronic device includes an electrical component (16) powered by a battery (12) and a compartment to receive the battery. A low voltage cutoff circuit (10) is configured to couple to the battery (12). The low voltage cutoff circuit (10) includes a switching device (14) having a control terminal (14a), a current sourcing terminal (14c) and current sinking terminal (14b) and a resistor (20) coupled between the control terminal (14a) and a first terminal of a battery (12). The circuit has first (10a) and second output terminals (10b). The first output terminal (10a) is coupled to the first terminal of the battery and the second output terminal (10b) is coupled to the current sourcing terminal (14c) of the transistor (14). The first and second output terminals (10a, 10b) are configured to accept connections to positive and negative terminals of the electrical component (16).
