摘要： The present invention provides systems, methods and devices for storing and/or disposing of hazardous waste material. In some embodiments, the waste material includes nuclear waste such as calcined material. In certain embodiments, the device includes a container having a container body, a filling port configured to couple with a filling nozzle and a filling plug, and an evacuation port having a filter. The evacuation port is configured to couple with an evacuation nozzle and an evacuation plug. In certain embodiments, the method includes (a) adding hazardous waste material via a filling nozzle coupled to a filling port of a container, the container including an evacuation port, (b) evacuating the container during adding of the hazardous waste material via an evacuation nozzle coupled to an evacuation port of the container, (c) sealing the filling port, (d) heating the container, and (e) sealing the evacuation port.

摘要： A method of stabilizing virgin ion exchange resin material is provided. The method includes rinsing virgin ion exchange resin material with deoxygenated water, introducing the rinsed virgin ion exchange resin material into a gas impermeable vessel and hermetically sealing the vessel. A vessel containing deoxygenated water and virgin ion exchange resin material is also provided. A method of facilitating water treatment in a site in need thereof by providing the gas impermeable vessel containing virgin ion exchange resin material and residual moisture from deoxygenated water is also provided.

摘要： A device for storing dangerous materials includes a mount supporting a containment enclosure for containing dangerous materials. The mount includes a frame surmounted by support members that support the enclosure, each support member including a first element secured to the mount and a second element for supporting the enclosure and that is mounted so as to be movable relative to the first element in a substantially vertical sliding direction. The mount includes at least one impact absorber interposed between the two elements, the at least one impact absorber preventing relative movement between the two elements so long as a force applied to the at least one impact absorber by the two elements is no greater than a predetermined threshold. The at least one impact absorber deforms plastically so as to allow the two elements to move relative to each other.

摘要： A nuclear chemistry laboratory adopts In-site Cutting Technique to remove the large-scale glove box contaminated by transuranium compounds. During removal operation, to prevent further spreading of contamination, it is necessary to build an alpha airtight quarantine tent around the glove box that is ready to be cut. Each section of the quarantine tent maintains a stable airflow and sufficient air exchange to meet negative pressure requirements and effectively prevent leak of α contamination. It is necessary to install a negative pressure ventilation system to assure the operation of the quarantine tent that has a pressure gradient and allows airflow from low contamination area to high contamination area to effectively prevent spreading of α contamination and also increase the safety for the transuranium contaminated glove box that is not in service.

This method is especially applicable to decontamination of soils to which metals and/or radioactive isotopes are adsorbed. An electromagnetic potential also can be applied to the matrix to enhance desorption and or migration of the species. An electrolyte also may be added to the matrix to enhance desorption and or migration of the species.

Under the disclosed method, the waste is first introduced into a preconstructed multipurpose container which comprises a polyethylene inner container disposed within an outer concrete shell. Processing of the waste is carried out within the multipurpose container. The filled container is then transported to a disposal site, followed by storage of the waste at the storage disposal site.The claimed apparatus comprises an empty multipurpose storage container for use in the method. The multipurpose container is adapted for receiving and storing low-level radioactive waste, and comprises a polyethylene inner container disposed within an outer concrete shell. The multipurpose container is suitable for use during the processing and collection of low-level radioactive waste at the generation site, provides sufficient protection during transportation, and can serve as the permanent storage container upon delivery of the container to a remote disposal site.

The method is technically simple and prevents or minimizes the amount of secondary waste or the use of flushing liquid. This result is achieved by subjecting the residual liquid in the container to the action of pulsed compressed air which passes through a perforated pipe extending parallelly to the bottom of the container.
