摘要： Apparatus is disclosed for viewing computer generated images and for tracking the positions of the user's head and hand. One alternative of the apparatus includes a frame element, versatilely mountable, with sensors for the head tracking of a user whose bodily movement is constrained to a small area. Short range and inexpensive sensors are deployed for tracking the position of the user's head; these sensors are deployed partly on a on the user's head and partly on the tracking frame. All the electronics for tracking and user input are enclosed in a mobile pack. In another alternative of the tracking invention natural forces such as gravity, the Earth's magnetic field, and inertia are used, so additional references. The display allows for interchangeable optical elements so that it may be tailored to suit the needs of a particular user or application. One optical element disclosed is a bicolor polarizer, which allows an lcd to inexpensively provide a bicolor display without loss of resolution.

摘要： A system for reproducing a sound field simulating a real acousting space includes a sound collecting device, a sound recording device and a sound reproducing device. The sound collecting device includes first and second collection systems, the first collection system having non-directional microphones at respective corners of a cube defining a hypothetical three-dimensional space in the real acoustic space and the second collection system having directional microphones of the same number as the non-directional microphones concentrically within the three-dimensional space with directivity of each of the directional microphones being set in the direction of one of the non-directional microphones with which the directional microphone constitutes a pair. Collected sounds by the first and second collection systems of the sound collection device are mixed with each other and recorded on a recording medium by the sound recording device, and further provided on the sound reproducing device. The sound reproducing device has plural loudspeakers of the same number as the non-directional microphones in positions corresponding to the non-directional microphones in the three-dimensional space, and reproduces the collected sounds from the loudspeakers.

Each index defines a hierarchy of topics. Each index further matches a topic model to the topic hierarchy's topics. Each topic model includes a pattern evaluable against the digital information, which identifies such digital information matching the topic model's topic. At least one frontier evergreen index that includes topics that are at least partially distinct from the topics included in the home evergreen index is identified. Vetted assessments for articles identified by the at least one frontier evergreen index are obtained. The articles corresponding to the vetted assessments that are favorable are selected. The patterns that include the topic models of the home evergreen index are matched against the selected articles of the digital information. The selected articles of the digital information that were matched are provided on a display.

摘要： There is disclosed an omnipresent sound system for use by a listener in an artificial reality system which operates to couple sound with the presented objects such that as the sound moves with respect to the user, the user will have the perception of the changing sound both in pitch and in volume. The sound system is comprised of a series of piezoelectric elements spaced apart around a user's head. The system is designed to program each element individually so as to create the illusion of omnipresent three-dimensional sound in conjunction with images presented to the listener, which images define an artificial environment.

The system comprises a plurality of synthesizers for generating a corresponding plurality of signals, and a plurality of filters for band-pass filtering the plurality of generated signals. The calibrated amplitude spectrum is determined based on a reference amplitude spectrum of the signal and at least one of the following parameters: a target global signal amplitude, a directionality of the signal when played by the corresponding loudspeaker, and a frequency response of the synthesizer.
