摘要： A propellant charge feed or supply system for automatic introduction of modular propellant charges into the weapon tube of a heavy weapon having a breech assembly and a propellant charge chamber in front of the breech assembly. An oblong propellant charge feed tray is pivotable into position behind the weapon tube such that propellant charges disposed on the propellant charge feed tray are disposed coaxial relative to the axis of the bore of the weapon tube. A providing device is adapted during a feed stroke to move the propellant feed tray into the breech assembly up to the propellant charge chamber. An introduction device is adapted during an introduction stroke to move the propellant charges from the feed tray into the propellant charge feed tray.

摘要： An autoloader, affixed to a large caliber gun for movement therewith in azimuth and elevation, includes a rammer mounted by a parallel arm linkage mechanism for controlled movement between a lower loading position and an elevated ramming position. While in the loading position, ammunition rounds are singularly released from an ammunition clip to roll by gravity onto a rammer tray for transport to the ramming position. A chain driven ramming pawl then drives the round into the gun breech. A side flap automatically opens to admit a round loaded into the tray and then closes to confine the round on the tray during transport.

摘要： A turret gun assembly includes a turret, a gun having a barrel being adjustable in inclination about a trunnion axis, a magazine for accommodating rounds of ammunition, and a loading device for advancing rounds of ammunition from the magazine into a position behind the barrel in a longitudinal alignment therewith. The improvement wherein the loading device has a cam drive having a cam track mounted at an ammunition discharge location of the magazine and a follower guided in the cam track; a transfer arm mounted for pivotal motion about the trunnion axis; an ammunition-gripping holding clamp articulated to the transfer arm by a hinge connection and being arranged for gripping said ammunition. The transfer arm is rotated about the trunnion axis for causing the follower--which is coupled to the holding clamp--to slide within the cam track to rotate the holding clamp and the round of ammunition about the hinge connection and to simultaneously swing the holding clamp and the ammunition gripped thereby, about the trunnion axis to position the gripped ammunition into longitudinal alignment with the barrel.

摘要： An autoloading method and apparatus is disclosed for a turret mounted gun that is pivoted horizontally relative to the turret and must be lowered to a substantially horizontal 0.degree. position for loading selected cartridges from a magazine conveyor, ejecting empty cartridge cases and misfired cartridges from the gun and turret, assisting in replenishing cartidges from outside the turret into the magazine, and off-loading cartridges from the magazine. A partition divides the turret into two compartments with a gunner and a commander located in one compartment and the mechanical components of the autoloader and breech of the gun located in the other compartment. When the gun is returned to the 0.degree. position for ejecting an empty case, the site of the director system remains on target. The turret is preferably mounted on a military land vehicle.

摘要： A turret is movable in azimuth within a turret support structure and a large caliber cannon is movable in elevation within the turret. An automatic loading mechanism is contained within the turret operating to move fixed ammunition rounds between a turret mounted magazine and the cannon breech. The magazine in one embodiment includes a rotating carousel and a number of rotatable drums mounted thereon. The drums have storage cells for ammunition rounds. A transfer mechanism operates to move the rounds between a transfer position to which each of the cells may be indexed and a loading position aligned with the breech when the cannon is positioned substantially at zero elevation. The transfer mechanism performs magazine load and misfire transfer functions as well. A guide tube is provided, movable between a position aligned with the breech and an out-of-the-way position, for directing spent round cases from the turret upon being ejected from the breech after firing.

A turret ammunition handling system includes an automatic loading mechanism for fixed ammunition cartridges configured with stub cases. The system is configured to move the ammunition cartridges between a turret mounted magazine and the cannon breech at the existing elevation of the cannon. The magazine is movable within the turret and has a plurality of cartridge storage cells therein. A stub case ejection container is movable between a position behind the breech opening, where it accepts ejected cartridge stub cases from the breech, and a position extending through a hatch in the gun mantlet, whereupon the stub case is discharged from the turret. Misfired rounds may be removed from the turret and cartridges may be on-loaded and off-loaded from the turret by the automatic loading mechanism. A microprocessor based control is provided to sequence the mechanical components properly to carry out the ammunition handling system operations in accordance with any one of several selected operating modes.

摘要： Apparatus for the loading of rounds of ammunition from a magazine into the barrel of a firearm, particularly a firearm supported on a tank. The firearm is movable in elevation about a first axis, and a pendulum-like member is provided which is rotatable about a second axis parallel to the axis about which the barrel rotates. The pendulum-like member is also movable translationally along the axis about which it rotates. Apparatus is provided for rotating the pendulum-like member about the axis of rotation between first and second angular positions, and further apparatus is provided for translationally moving the pendulum-like member along its rotational axis between predetermined spaced locations. To transfer a round of ammunition to the pendulum-like member from a magazine, the member is translationally moved along the axis and also rotated about the axis so as to be disposed adjacent the magazine, thereby making possible the transfer of an ammunition round into the member. Thereafter, the member is rotated about its axis of rotation and also moved along the axis so as to place the round in position where it can readily be rammed into the breach of the firearm barrel.
