    • An enclosure for a data storage system comprises at least first and second cast magnesium parts joined by rivets, each of which is made of a suitable material that provides compressive strength superior to that of the cast magnesium. Each rivet is of a height or thickness equal to the sum of the thickness of the parts to be riveted. Each such rivet has flat end surfaces and its body is peripherally concave between its ends. The rivet is embedded in the two parts, and the parts flow radially against the concave body of the rivet. No drilling is required, and the parts are held in carefully defined position while being joined, so that the assembled enclosure satisfies strict dimensional tolerances.

    • A base enables the elevation of a panel to be selectively adjusted. The base includes a fixed flap, a supporting flap assembly and a hinge. The fixed flap is attached to the backside of the panel. The supporting flap assembly supports the panel. The hinge connects the fixed flap and the supporting flap assembly. The supporting flap assembly includes a top flap and a fan-wheel. The top flap has a protrusion on a surface thereof, and the fan-wheel has a plurality of recesses that are positioned to selectively engage the protrusion. The fan-wheel is connected to the top flap by a pivot that enables the fan-wheel to turn with respect to the top flap. The hinge enables the fixed flap and the supporting flap assembly to turn around the shaft of the hinge to position the supporting flap assembly with respect to the fixed flap. The elevation of the base can be adjusted by changing the extent to which the fan-wheel is turned with respect to the top flap.

    • A laptop computer has a base and a cover with a display monitor that are connected together by a hinge. The base and cover have congruent trapezoidal shapes that give the laptop a unique appearance. A pair of segregated right and left keyboards are mounted to the base. Each keyboard is rotated by a small angle from the center of the base to align with the natural position of the arms of the user. The keyboards are further articulated such that their front ends are elevated relative to their rearward ends. Alternate embodiments of the invention utilize various mechanisms for articulating the keyboards. In addition, the keys on each keyboard may be arranged in a curvilinear formation. The laptop has a wedge that is slidably mounted to the rearward end of the base for varying the angle of inclination of the keyboards. The wedge can raise or lower the angle of the keyboards to suit the preference of the user. The laptop also has a pair of touch pads with different sensitivities, as well as a track point or track ball for moving the screen cursor.

    • The present invention relates to a cover structure for a wireless communication device arranged at least partly as a standard expansion card, and the cover structure (3) being provided with at least one cover surface (3a, 3b). The cover surface (3a, 3b) is provided with at least one elongated bracing groove (G1 to G3) for increasing the dimensional stability of the cover surface (3a, 3b, 4a, 4b, 4c). In an advantageous embodiment of the cover structure (3), the thickness of the cover structure (3) at the bracing groove corresponds substantially to the thickness of the cover structure (3) at the cover surface (3a, 3b), and the bracing groove (G1 to G3) extends substantially over the cover surface (3a, 3b) and the depth of the bracing groove (G1 to G3) is smaller than the thickness of the cover structure (3) at the cover surface (3a, 3b). The present invention relates also to a method in the manufacture of the cover structure for a wireless communication device.
