摘要： An antenna structure includes a conductive housing and a feed element. The conductive housing includes an open slot. The feed element includes a substrate, a grounding portion, a shorting portion, a first feeding portion and a second feeding portion. The grounding portion and the shorting portion are connected with the conductive housing. The first feeding portion has a feeding point and is connected with the conductive housing via the shorting portion. The orthographic projections of the first and second feeding portions are within the open slot, and the orthographic projections of the grounding portion and the shorting portion are located at two sides of the open slot, respectively. The antenna structure operates at a first frequency band via a first path formed by the open slot, and operates at a second frequency band via a second path formed by the first and second feeding portions.

The invention is a device that combines a personal computer (PC) modem with a satellite link and relay system for computers. This will allow the user to establish a communications link with Internet™ access, access to direct dial telephones, faxing on demand, hyperterminal access for remote computer link-up, video, and voice applications. Utilizing existing software and hardware, this invention uses digital satellite technology and combines it with a PC modem for access to various communication links including phone links, without a phone line. In order to accomplish this, the laptop has a type II PCMCIA card slot for receiving the PC modem. An antenna is attached to the plug-in cellular phone card for the modem using a swivel joint assembly.

摘要： A personal digital assistant module with a local CPU, memory, and I/O interface has a host interface comprising a bus connected to the local CPU and a connector at a surface of the personal digital assistant for interfacing to a bus connector of a host general-purpose computer, providing direct bus communication between the personal digital assistant and the host general-purpose computer. In an embodiment, the personal digital assistant also has a means for storing a security code. The personal digital assistant according to the invention forms a host/satellite combination with a host computer having a docking bay, wherein upon docking a docking protocol controls access by the host to memory of the personal digital assistant based on one or more passwords provided by a user to the host. In another embodiment the personal digital assistant has a compressed BIOS chip, and in yet another embodiment also has an expansion port connected to the local CPU, and expansion peripheral devices may be connected and operated through the expansion port.

The bail latch is movable between two positions and it engages a cam member formed as part of the module that cams two opposing free ends of the bail latch inwardly into the module to thereby release it from the adapter frame. The adapter frame includes a wear sleeve that cams the bail latch free ends inwardly during some insertions of the module. C-shaped press fit pins are made with the adapter frame for better engagement with the circuit board.

摘要： An expansion card with an integrated fingerprint acquisition system is provided that is able to be connected to a portable computer. In one aspect of the invention, PCMCIA standards are used for the expansion card. The expansion card is built such the fingerprint acquisition system is on a slidable carriage which may extend out from the expansion card housing, or may be retracted into the housing when the fingerprint acquisition system is not in use. A locking mechanism keeps the carriage in the retracted position, and a spring provides the force necessary to slide the carriage into the extended position when pressure is placed on the slidable carriage. An advantage of the invention is that the fingerprint recognition device is small enough to fit within a PCMCIA standard expansion card. Another advantage of the invention is that the fingerprint recognition system, when not in use, is enclosed within a portable computer's housing such that the invention does not use additional desk space in addition to the portable computer itself, other than that necessary for the retractable access portion to extend into an extended position.
