    • An electronic weapon with an installed deployment unit, from which at least one tethered electrode is launched, provides a stimulus current through a target to inhibit locomotion by the target. The wire tether, also called a filament, conducts the stimulus current. The one or more electrodes, according to various aspects of the present invention, perform one or more of the following functions in any combination: binding the filament to the electrode, deploying the filament from the deployment unit, coupling the electrode to the target, and distributing a current density with respect to a region of target tissue and/or a volume of target tissue. For an electrode that includes a body and a spear, the spear may be implemented with conductive rings or with materials that include integrated conductive and insulative substances (e.g., conductive fibers in insulative composite material). Relatively high electric field flux density at a tip of the spear may be reduced or avoided by practice of the invention.

    • An electronic disabling device includes first and second electrodes positionable to establish first and second spaced apart contact points on a target having a high impedance air gap existing between at least one of the electrodes and the target. The power supply generates a first high voltage, short duration output across the first and second electrodes during a first time interval to ionize air within the air gap to thereby reduce the high impedance across the air gap to a lower impedance to enable current flow across the air gap at a lower voltage level. The power supply next generates a second lower voltage, longer duration output across the first and second electrodes during a second time interval to maintain the current flow across the first and second electrodes and between the first and second contact points on the target to enable the current flow through the target to cause involuntary muscle contractions to thereby immobilize the target.

    • A method and apparatus for electronically controlling an electric fence energizer. The method is characterized by the step of sending a user selectable coded signal along an electric fence line to the electric fence energizer, said coded signal causing the state of the electric fence energizer to change. The coded signal may come in a variety of forms, and in one embodiment the coded signal may comprise a number of short pulses sent predetermined times apart. Other types of signals may be sent with variations in amplitude or other differentiating characteristics. A coded signal that varies in the time domain is preferred due to signal attenuation. According to a preferred aspect of the present invention, a signalling device for interaction with a fence system is provided. The device has a power supply, signal producing means, and control means for the signal producing means. In operation, the power supply can provide power to the signal producing means, which is controlled by the control means to send a coded signal along the fence system. The preferred embodiment for the signal producing means is a capacitor, for the power supply, a battery, and for the control means a programmed microprocessor.

    • Disclosed is a cockroach-trap mainly including a box having a top cover and a bottom tray pivotally hinged together, a metal net spread over inner surfaces of the box and being formed by alternately and densely arranging conductors of different polarities, and an intermittent-high-voltage generating circuit electrically connected to two conductors extended from the metal net. The box is provided with at least one entrance which is not covered by the metal net. When the box is closed, two pin holes separately provided on the top cover and the bottom tray opposite to the hinges together form a socket to receive a plug connected to a power source, so that power can be supplied to the intermittent-high-voltage generating circuit for the circuit to generate intermittent high voltage on the metal net. Cockroaches entering into the closed box can be killed by the high voltage. The cockroach-trap is absolutely safe when the top cover is lifted from the bottom tray and no high voltage current can be supplied to the metal net.

    • The non-lethal TASER.RTM. Area Denial Device (TADD) can be deployed to prevent enemy reconnaissance troops or small raiding parties from penetrating lines and for their capture. The inventive device comprises a non-lethal alternative to the anti-personnel landmine. The TASER.RTM. alternative uses electronic stun capability in combination with a landmine housing and deployment system. This invention comprises improvements which address the issue of deployment. Regardless of which of the two flat sides of the device is in the up position, it provides the ability to launch the proper set of wires at an upward angle to intercept the subject when the target subject is in the correct position. It also simultaneously establishes a ground wire connection and prevents the second (downward facing) unusable set of wires from loading or short circuiting. The possibility of the device landing on the radius edge is eliminated by shaping the housing to make it unstable on that plane. The device will fall over onto one of two flat stable surfaces irrespective of where it initially impacts the ground. Grounding of unusable wires is prevented by a slidable shutter or gate which blocks launch of one of the lower set wires even when the device senses an intrusion into its trip space. The shutter or gate is gravity sensitive and automatically settles into a blocking position as soon as the device comes to rest.
