    • Long and short terminal lugs are installed in alternate slots formed in the connector housing. Each terminal lug consists of an electrical contact portion and a wire connecting portion connected together through an intermediate link portion. The wire connecting portion is larger in width than the electrical contact portion. The wire connecting portions of the long terminal lugs and those of the short terminal lugs are staggered from each other in the axial direction. The long terminal lugs each have a depressed intermediate link portion so that the wire connecting portions of the adjacent short terminal lugs positioned by the side of the depressed intermediate links of the long terminal lugs are given sufficient space and are not interfered with by the wire connecting portions of the adjacent long terminal lugs as in the conventional connectors. This construction allows reduction in the size of the connector housing.

    • A flexible board connector includes a casing having an opening in its upper surface and placed inside a through-hole of a circuit board. Terminals of the circuit board are connected to outside contact portions of conductive contacts which portions protrude from proximity to an upper end of a side surface of the casing. A portion of the flexible board is inserted into an insertion hole through the opening, and then a press member is slid toward the opening. Thereby, inside contact portions of the contacts and the inserted portion of the flexible board are sandwiched to be fixed by the press member and a wedge-shaped push-up block located in the casing. The press member has a cover portion which allows a portion of the flexible board located outside the insertion hole to be bent in the direction generally parallel to an upper surface of the circuit board.

    • An electric connector comprises a base connector fitted to a surface of a circuit board and a socket connector connected to ends of wires. The base connector includes a base housing having a mounting surface and two rows of base contacts. The socket connector includes a socket housing to be fitted to the base housing in a predetermined fitting direction perpendicular to the mounting surface, and two rows of socket contacts. Each of the base contacts has a fork-like shape including semi-fixed piece portion and a resilient piece portion. The resilient piece portion of each base contact is restrained from displacing by an intermediate wall of the base housing. The semi-fixed piece portion of each base contact is received by a side wall of the base housing.

    • An electrical connector (1) is provided for connecting a flexible printed circuit or a flexible flat cable. The connector comprises a housing (10), a number of electrical contacts (30) received in the housing and an actuator (40). The housing has a pair of concave portions (117) formed on opposite lateral ends thereof and opening upwardly to exterior. Each electrical contact comprises a support arm (35) defining a pivot portion (351) at an end thereof. The actuator has a pair of turning shafts (42) received in the corresponding concave portions and a plurality of turning pintles (411) therein for engaging with the pivot portions of the electrical contacts.
