    • A polarized electromagnetic relay includes a base, an electromagnet with a coil and a pair of pole pieces extending perpendicularly from the end of said coil, a balanced armature and spring system which when actuated pivots between two fixed contact points and a permanent magnet inducing the same magnetic poles in both of said pole pieces and providing an opposite pole in closely adjacent relationship to the central portion of the armature. A movable contact spring is fixedly connected to the armature, said spring forming contact arms at either armature end portion and a pair of torsion pivot arms extending transversely in opposite directions along the pivot axis of said armature, the distal ends of either pivot arm being fixedly connected to a support extending on either side of the armature from a coil bobbin. Further, a flexible movable braid connects the movable contacts on said movable spring to each other and to a movable contact terminal. Two identical coils wound in a common direction are provided as the means for actuation. Armature transfer will occur by either applying a voltage pulse across the appropriate coil, or by toggling the voltage pulse polarity across the two coils connected in series.

    • A relay comprises a spool with flanges (2, 3), an angular yoke (7) and an angular armature (9) positioned in front of the free end of the yoke (7). A contact element (8) attached to the free end of the yoke is provided for contacting of the relay spring (10c), which is connected with said armature. During the assembly process an armature assembly including an armature (9), connecting element (8) and leaf spring (10) is preassembled and subsequently mounted as a single unit onto the yoke (7). Since all connecting elements are connected with the spool or with the yoke, additional soldering to the base is not required. This physical configuration enables a fully automatic production of the relay.

    • An AC current electromagnetic relay is disclosed herein. The relay comprises a U-shaped armature with arms connected by a web and a generally E-shaped yoke with an elongated center leg and shortened side legs extending from a common base, the elongated center leg serving as a core around which a coil and a shading ring are disposed. The U-shaped armature is placed on the yoke with the free end edges of the arms being pivotally supported on the respective side legs of the yoke, so that upon the energization of the coil the armature is pulled toward the yoke and abuts against the respective free end portions of the side legs and the center leg, such free end portions being cooperative to define apexes of a triangle. Thus, a three-point contact can be attained between the armature and the yoke. With this arrangement of the three-point contact, the armature is allowed to abut simultaneously against all the three contacting faces at the free end portions of the respective legs, even if these contacting faces are out of exact alignment in the same plane, whereby effecting stable contact between the armature and the yoke. Accordingly, the relay can assure stable and intimate contact of the armature with the yoke for preventing chattering and beating at the time of energizing the coil, while allowing the employment of the yoke having possible misalignment of the contacting faces at the free end portions of yoke.

    • A relay is provided for reversing the direction of current to an electric motor and providing for dynamic breaking when power is disconnected. The contacts are cantilevered from a pivoting support driven electromagnetically. Mounted inwardly of the cantilevered contacts, are a pair of cantilevered springs. Each cantilevered spring is adjacent to, and associated with, a respective cantilevered contact. When the relay is energized, displacing one of the cantilevered contacts, a respective cantilevered spring is deflected against the cantilevered contact to provide a force additional to the force induced by the cantilevered contact support. Additionally, a fulcrum is provided for supporting pivotal movement of an armature supporting the cantilevered contacts, and which is combined with the magnetic flux path of the relay.
