    • The present invention concerns the field of the manufacture of solid state components, and in preferred embodiments, capacitors. The method relates particularly to massed production methods for manufacturing solid state components, such as capacitors. According to one aspect of the present invention there is provided a method of manufacturing multiple solid state electronic components comprising: (i) providing a first substrate provided with a plurality of first solid state electronic component elements formed on a surface e thereof, (ii) providing a second substrate provided with a plurality of second sold state electronic component elements formed on a surface thereof, (iii) aligning the first and second substrates so that respective first and second component elements are each mutually aligned, (iv) fixing the first and second substrates together, so that the first and second elements are operatively connected one to another, thereby to form a substrate sandwich, (v) dividing the substrate sandwich to form a plurality of individual components, each comprising a first component element cooperatively connected to a second component element. Suitable types of component are capacitors, diodes and resistors, although this list is not exhaustive and other suitable components are available to be made using this method.

    • The formation of three layers of overlapped metals having different thicknesses is provided on a dielectric film, these layers being a very thin layer of silver, copper or their alloys, a second zinc layer provided with a reinforcement and a third layer of aluminium or aluminium alloy comprising a percentage of titanium, silicon or cadmium lower than 1%. The layers are obtained by depositing metal vapours in a chamber at a pressure of about 10.sup.-4 torr. The apparatus comprises a vacuum chamber (10) divided in two sections (11 and 12), section (11) being a film's transit area, while in section (12) separate evaporating devices for the three metals are foreseen. Particularly, a resistive bar is foreseen for melting silver, copper or their alloys, a radiation furnace for zinc and a heated cylindric bar for aluminium or aluminium alloys.

    • A wound capacitor element for a power capacitor is built up of electrodes of metal foils and a solid dielectric comprising polymer films. Adjacent each end surface of the capacitor element, (a) one of the metal foils is arranged with its longitudinal edge inside the longitudinal edges of the polymer films and there exposed to the end surface between adjacent polymer films and with its longitudinal edge folded along a line extending at least substantially in the longitudinal direction of the metal foil, and (b) one of the metal foils is arranged with its longitudinal edge unfolded at least along the main portion of its length. Each of the metal foils is arranged in contact with separate current tap strips which, from the interior of the capacitor element, protrude outside one end surface of the capacitor element. Where such a current tap strip protrudes from one of the metal foils, the other metal foil, at least in those portions which form the layers located nearest to said current tap strips in the capacitor element, is folded along a line extending at least essentially in the direction of the metal foil.
