    • Disclosed herein are a method for forming a highly electrically conductive metal pattern and an electromagnetic interference filter (EMI filter) using a metal pattern formed by the method. The method comprises the steps of (i) coating a photocatalytic compound onto a substrate to form a photocatalytic film, (ii) selectively exposing the photocatalytic film to light to form a latent pattern acting as a nucleus for crystal growth, and (iii) plating the latent pattern to grow metal crystals thereon. The EMI filter comprises the metal pattern. According to the method, a highly electrically conductive metal wiring pattern can be rapidly and efficiently formed, when compared to conventional methods. In addition, the EMI filter comprising the metal pattern not only exhibits excellent performance, but also is advantageous in terms of low manufacturing costs and simple manufacture processes. Accordingly, the EMI filter can be broadly applied to flat panel display devices, such as plasma display panels (PDPs).

    • A support pillar system for a magnetically-shielded room including several support pillars, each support pillar including a nested structure formed by a first structure and a second structure surrounding the first structure. The upper end of the first structure has a threaded part and a member provided with a thread and disposed about the threaded part. The shielding structure of the magnetically-shielded room is attached to the second structure of the support pillar, whereby the floor of the room is supported on the upper end of the first structure. When the member provided with a thread is tightened in a locking position, it locks the first structure and the second structure together, whereby the vibration of the floor is transmitted to the shielding structure and the shield vibrates substantially in synchronization with the vibration of the floor of the room. When the member is threaded into an open, unlocked position, the locking of the second structure is released vis-a-vis the first structure, whereby the inner room is allowed to vibrate, irrespective of the vibration of the other shield structures, and hence, the potential vibration of the room is not transmitted to the shielding structures.

    • A combination instrument for automotive vehicles, in which different indicating instruments, indicating fields, control and warning lights, and, possibly, operating parts as well as electrical and electronic equipment parts, are arranged in common housing. The combination instrument comprises a computer unit with microcomputers (36) and/or use-specific integrated circuits which are arranged, for protection against electromagnetic disturbances, within a housing (31) which is impervious to high frequencies. Furthermore, disturbance-endangered incomiing and outgoing lines (41, 43, 46) are protected, upon entrance or exit, by suitable filter measures. These include leadthroughs with leadthrough capacitors (45) and the use of ferrite cores (47, 48) through which connecting lines are extended. For shielding against disturbing radiation and for obtaining a low profile of installation, in one embodiment, a lower part (38) of a multiple-plug-type connector is fastened on a least one outer surface of the high-frequency-proof housing, and electrical contacts are formed by elongated conductors (32) which extend in a single piece from a circuit board (33) through a housing wall (34) into the plug-type connector.
