The method comprises: scanning a document to create a matrix of pixel information; averaging pixel intensity information into a first plurality of row-mean buffer elements, where each row strip includes information from a second plurality of column elements; and, averaging pixel information into a third plurality of column-mean buffer elements, where each column strip includes information from a fourth plurality of row elements; comparing adjacent elements of matrix row information to generate a first set of edge positions; comparing adjacent elements of matrix column information to generate a second set of edge positions; generating a rotation angle in response to analyzing the first and second edge positions; and, rotating the scanned document by the rotation angle.

    • An image forming apparatus that processes data described in a predetermined descriptive language is provided. A reading module of the image forming apparatus reads placement information of an image including a storage location of image data of the image, a size of the image and forming information of the image described in a predetermined descriptive language. An image storage location interpretation module interprets the storage location of the image data read out. An image size interpretation module interprets the size of the image read out. An image data obtaining module obtains the image data based on the storage location of the image data interpreted. An image region determining module determines an image forming rectangular region based on the image size interpreted. An image modification processing module performs an enlargement or reduction processing on the image data obtained such that the image obtained can be contained in the image forming rectangular region. An image drawing module that draws the image with the enlargement or reduction processing being rendered in the image forming rectangular region. An image forming information interpreting module interprets the image forming information obtained. The image modification processing module includes an image forming processing module that renders an image forming processing on the image data based on the image forming information interpreted.

    • The invention provides an image processing method for performing output processing such that a simple operation by the user causes an output area to be filled, an apparatus and a printer driver for carrying out the method. When a desired image is to be outputted to an image output area of an image output medium without leaving a margin, the desired image is scaled with the longitudinal and lateral scaling factors being the same so that no margin is left on the image output area, and an image output position is shifted so that the center of the scaled image corresponds with the center of the image output area. Also, when the image scaled and shifted in the output position extends off the image output area, the output of the portion extending off the image output area is prohibited. In addition, the image is rotated to an angle of 90null so that the area of portion of the scaled image extending off the image output area is reduced.
