摘要： A clinical thermometer with maximum function with a non-toxic eutectic Ga alloy as measuring fluid 14 inside a measuring tube 13 which provides adhesion forces larger than the cohesion forces inherent in liquid 14. To reach the maximum function, therefore, the customary Hick'sche constriction is not required any more facilitating production and handling of said clinical thermometer. Furthermore, a special Ga/In/Sn alloy is described, which may be used not only for clinical thermometers but also as a lubricant.

摘要： A disposable clinical thermometer of low cost and preferably mostly of plastic includes a stiff rod-like inner member having a longitudinal groove of like configuration extending its length. A baffle or lip is formed on one end of this rod to provide a restriction to the flow of fluid to the groove. This rod is inserted into a flexible and transparent tube which is a tight fit on the rod-like member. A plastic, rigid, liquid container forms one end of the thermometer and is bonded to the housing at the end which encloses the restriction on the rod. The other end of the outer housing is tightly closed. A colored fluid having a known expansion with the heating of the fluid is placed in the rigid container. This fluid contains a coloring material which as the colored fluid flows up the groove in the rod causes a color to form in the groove, which color remains even if the thermometer is cooled. Indicia showing a temperature range is printed on the outer tube or on adhesive clear tape which is secured to the outer housing.

The fixture includes a housing having an open end through which a thermometer-holding device is adapted to move between a thermometer-inserting position and a thermometeraligned position wherein the thermometer is aligned with the laser beam. A light trap is provided for sealing the open end of the housing when the thermometer holding device is in the thermometer-aligned position to prevent the leakage of energy from the laser device through the open end of the housing. A method for trimming a thermometer also is disclosed.

摘要： The disclosed invention is directed to an automatic, multiplestation turntable apparatus for automatic control of blister collapse in the production of thermometers. The turntable comprises a plurality of holders members for gripping the thermometer, equipment to move the turntable, a first projection and viewing station positioned beyond a loading station, and a heating station positioned beyond the first projection and viewing station to apply heat for collapsing the blister in the thermometer. A second projection and viewing station which includes a manual heat application means which is located beyond the first-mentioned heating station.
