    • Illumination device (1) with light emitting diodes (LED) and an LED support element (10) on which a number of light pixels (11, 11null) are arranged which emit light.     • The effective coherence of a synchrotron beam line can be tailored to projection lithography requirements by employing a moving holographic diffuser and a stationary low-cost spherical mirror. The invention is particularly suited for use in an illuminator device for an optical image processing system requiring partially coherent illumination. The illuminator includes: (1) a synchrotron source of coherent or partially coherent radiation which has an intrinsic coherence that is higher than the desired coherence, (2) a holographic diffuser having a surface that receives incident radiation from said source, (3) means for translating the surface of the holographic diffuser in two dimensions along a plane that is parallel to the surface of the holographic diffuser wherein the rate of the motion is fast relative to integration time of said image processing system; and (4) a condenser optic that re-images the surface of the holographic diffuser to the entrance plane of said image processing system.

    • Conventionally, concentrated illumination of a central portion of an image (about 40-60% of the whole image) in which information such as letters and a picture tends to concentrate (centrally concentrated illumination) and uniform illumination of the whole image (uniform illumination) can be carried out by using two separate apparatuses, but no single conventional image display apparatus can carry out both of the two types of illumination. Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a liquid crystal display apparatus which can carry out centrally concentrated illumination, uniform illumination, and various other illumination states (illumination distributions). According to the present invention, an image display apparatus (such as a liquid crystal projector) is structured such that a fly-eye lens or a part thereof in an illumination optical system for illuminating an image forming element is moved to vary the illumination distribution on the image forming element.

    • An easily assembled lamp retaining device comprises, a lamp seat firmly secured to a lateral side of a wire winding box, and a lamp rod inserted into the lamp seat. A front end of the lamp rod has an inserting block. The lamp rod has a buckling block which inserts into the slot so as to confine the movement of the lamp rod. The lamp rod has a flange.     • A flashing lighting device, most specifically designed for mounting inside and outside an automobile, is comprised of a housing and, within in, a circuit for storing at least one flashing sequence signal. At least one first array of light-emitting elements is close to this housing and generates a flashing pattern responsive to the flashing sequence signal, and at least one second array of light-emitting elements are arranged more remotely from the housing than the at least one first array and is also responsive to said flashing signal. In this way the circuit actuates said the two arrays or series of arrays in a way substantially contemporaneous with the same flashing pattern so that observation of any one array conveys information regarding the flashing pattern displayed in the other array.
