    • A fluid coupler comprises a ball valve a through hole provided between a female coupler body and a valve holding casing connected to the female coupler body and surrounding the ball. The ball valve has a first flat sliding surface formed on a spherical outer surface of the ball valve which extends in a direction normal to a rotational axis of the ball valve, and a flat stop surface raised from the first flat sliding surface and reaching said spherical outer surface of said ball valve, the first flat sliding surface and the flat stop surface together defining a recess. The valve holding casing has an alignment portion formed on and raised from an interior surface thereof. The alignment portion has a second flat sliding surface slidably engaged with said first flat sliding surface. The flat stop surface is adapted to engage with the alignment portion to limit the rotational movement of the ball valve.

    • An improved ball valve assembly is provided for use on firefighting equipment and other applications. The ball valve assembly includes an improved seal assembly which includes both a load bearing seal element and a soft elastomeric seal element. Both seal elements are held in place by a seat member which is accommodated in a recess provided on the inside surface of the seat housing or valve body. The load bearing seal member provides support for the ball element and serves to wipe or remove debris from the ball element before the ball element engages the soft elastomer seal. As a result, the load bearing seal member removes the stress normally imparted to soft elastomer seals utilized in ball valve assemblies. Further, a lubrication fitting and passageways are provided which enable lubricant to be communicated through the housing and through the seal assembly to the ball element. The ball valve assembly may also be connected in-line between conduits using circular clamps thereby enabling the ball valve to be rotated about the central axis of the conduit for versatility in installation and positioning. The lubricant fitting may be incorporated into an overall lubrication system for lubricating other ball valves on the firefighting equipment. The ball valve assembly may also be connected to a relief valve and disposed between a firefighting pump and behind a protective panel or housing thereby disposing both the ball valve and relief valve behind a protective housing as opposed to outside of the housing or the truck body in an exposed position.

    • A pipe coupling comprises a socket including a cylindrical main body having an axial bore for a fluid, an annular valve seat at the forward end, a ball type valve body rotatable relative to the valve seat and having a through hole and a casing fitted over the main body and rotatably retaining the ball valve in cooperation with the valve seat, and a plug inserted in the through hole. The casing has a long hole including a wider area and a narrower area. The ball valve communicates the through hole with the axial bore when the trough hole is aligned with the narrower area and closes the axial bore when the trough hole is aligned with the wider area. The coupling comprises a guide for guiding the ball valve along the long hole from a position in which the through hole is aligned with the wider area.

    • The evacuation and inert gas introduction apparatus capable of quickly switching over between the evacuation state and the inert gas introduction state, is provided for a synthesizing device for molecular asymmetrical catalysts. The evacuation line is connected to a vacuum pump via a cock and solvent trap. The inert gas introduction line is connected to an argon gas cylinder via a cock. The vacuum cavity is provided at a tip end of the housing of the three-way cock, and thus the inside plug is attracted towards the vacuum cavity. The evacuation line is connected to the first port of the three-way cock, the inert gas introduction line is connected to the second port and the each reaction chamber of the synthesizing apparatus is connected to the third port. As the rotation angle of the inside plug is changed, the connection state of the line is switched.
