    • The present invention covers a one-to-one ratio harmonic drive transmission for use between a pressure chamber and a vacuum chamber for power transmission therebetween, while also providing a pressure seal therebetween. The transmission includes a chamber wall dividing the vacuum chamber from a pressure chamber. An annular housing has a first end and a second end with an output shaft through the first end supported therein by a bearing supported arrangement. An input shaft is arranged through the wall and a generally cup-shaped flexspline is sealingly arranged about the input shaft. An outer wave generator and an inner wave generator are arranged with respect to the flexspline, to provide a one-to-one ratio of input to output, with the flexspline acting as a hermetic seal.

    • A power takeoff assembly includes a housing, a drivingly engageable input shaft, a power takeoff shaft, a source of pressurized fluid, a fluid filled clutch assembly with a first clutch element operatively connected to the input shaft and a second clutch element operatively connected to the power takeoff shaft, and a brake operable to engage the power takeoff shaft to the housing. The clutch assembly is placed in an engaged state when pressurized fluid from the pressure source causes the first clutch element to engage the second clutch element such that the input shaft drives the power takeoff shaft. The clutch assembly is placed in a disengaged state when pressurized fluid from the pressure source is removed from the clutch assembly. The brake engages the power takeoff shaft to the housing when the clutch assembly is in the disengaged state to prevent fluid forces within the clutch assembly from driving the power takeoff shaft.

A hypoid pinion shaft is supported by two bearings in a bearing case portion in a gear case. A hypoid pinion engages with a hypoid gear having an orthogonal axial line. The hypoid pinion shaft is provided with a base end portion that is a solid shaft portion projecting toward a motor beyond the bearing on the motor side. The motor and the bearing case portion of the hypoid gear set are coupled with a separately provided joint case, while the motor output shaft and the base end portion of the hypoid pinion shaft are coupled through coupling members in the joint case.
