    • A steering damper for reducing the inertia of steering that is attached in a low position relative to the steering shaft. The upper portion of a steering shaft is fitted in the center of the rear of a top bridge as a fitting part and a lower screw part of a shaft is tightened in the fitting part and is integrated with the fitting part. The shaft is provided with a shaft main part having a small diameter extending in an axial direction of the steering shaft, when the shaft main part is made to pierce a turning shaft in the steering damper. A steering nut is attached to an upper screw part at the upper end and the upper screw part is tightened. The steering damper and the top bridge are fixed to the upper portion of the steering shaft by jointly fastening. Hereby, a steering nut heretofore provided under the steering damper can be omitted and a position in which the steering damper is attached can be lowered by the quantity. A rear portion of the liquid-operated steering damper is designed to fit into a space in the fuel tank so that it does not interfere with the front end of a fuel tank. The steering damper does not interfere with the capacity of the fuel tank.

    • The present invention relates to a hydropneumatic shock absorber. This new telescopic system comprises an outer sliding tube, an inner sliding tube and structure for adjusting the braking level of the shock absorber in expansion. Fastened on the base of the outer sliding tube is the bottom of a barrel on which rests an elastic structure, such as a counter-acting spring, which pushes on the inner sliding tube in the expansion stroke. The inner sliding tube carries at its internal end a bell which cooperates with a stop spring when in the expansion stroke. The liquid filled barrel contains an axially movable piston connected to the closure plug assembly with the piston contains a first valve, which opens only in the compression phase, and a second valve, which acts as variable throttle and is controlled by the padded end of a screw axially placed within the support tube. By acting on a screw, the expansion braking level of the shock absorber can be adjusted.

    • A steering damper device attenuating the oscillations of the handlebar of a motorcycle during operation, and more particularly, a device capable of varying a damping force variable. The steering damping device prevents the adverse effect of oscillations of the handlebar that would otherwise occur when the load on the front wheel of the motorcycle becomes light. The device includes a rotary steering damper provided in a coaxial manner on a steering shaft. Either a damping force or zero damping force is produced by a variable valve arranged in the bypass passage communicating with a right liquid chamber and a left liquid chamber. The variable valve is controlled by a control device and generates a damping force in the steering damper only when the acceleration of the motorcycle as detected by the acceleration sensor exceeds a threshold value.

    • To provide a rotary damper in which a viscous fluid does not leak from between an inner end face of a land and an outer circumferential surface of a rotatable member, and a decrease in torque caused by an eccentric rotation of the rotating member is prevented. The rotary damper has a rotatable member being relatively rotatable with respect to a casing, the proximal portion of the rotatable member being accommodated in a chamber of the case; a ridge member extending axially along and projecting radially outwardly from an outer circumferential surface of the proximal portion of the rotatable member, the ridge member having a radially outer end face disposed for sliding contact with an inner circumferential surface of the chamber; and the land extending axially along and projecting inwardly from the inner circumferential surface of the chamber, the land having a face transverse with respect to the rotational direction of the rotatable member. The ridge member and the land divide an interior of the chamber into a compression compartment and a decompression compartment, the volume of these compartments being variable complementarily to each other in response to the relative rotation of the rotatable member and the casing. A spacer is interposed between the land and the proximal portion of the rotatable member and adapted to be pressed against the outer circumferential surface of the proximal portion and the transverse face of the land by the pressure built up in the compression compartment in response to rotation of the rotatable member.

    • A method of producing a vane damper comprising a body including a space for at least one rotatable vane that divides the space into two part spaces that are located on either side of the vane. The spaces are variable because of the rotatability of the vane. The vane is mounted in the body by a bearing member and operates in a working medium that is located in the space. The working medium is transferable between the variable spaces via a passage or at least one throttle function to produce damping. The method includes producing the vane with associated bearing member by extruding aluminum or aluminum-containing alloy. The extruded product is cut for production of the respective vane with associated bearing member. The vane is provided with sealing members for establishing a seal against surfaces of the space and of the bearing member.
