    • The object of the present invention is to provide a control valve for a variable displacement compressor, which is used for controlling differential pressure between discharge pressure and suction pressure such that the differential pressure becomes equal to differential pressure set by duty ratio control, and improved in characteristics thereof when it is in the vicinity of the valve-closing position. A valve section for controlling the flow rate of refrigerant at discharge pressure Pd to thereby supply refrigerant at pressure Pc to a crankcase is implemented by a spool valve structures. A spool valve element and a shaft arranged coaxially with each other are configured such that the spool valve element and the shaft oppositely receive the discharge pressure Pd and the suction pressure Ps, respectively. The differential pressure between, the discharge pressure Pd and suction pressure Ps, which is to be controlled, is set by a pulse current supplied to a solenoid section which is duty ratio controlled. As a result, the spool valve element performing micro vibration due to duty ratio control is prevented from colliding against a valve seat when it is in the vicinity of the: valve-closing position, so that it is possible to enhance the lift characteristics of the valve, and improve durability of component parts of the same.

    • In a piston type compressor, a housing includes a cylinder head which defines a discharge chamber and a cooling chamber. The cooling chamber located adjacent to the discharge chamber surrounds the discharge chamber. The housing also defines a suction chamber, a compression chamber, and a crank chamber. The cooling chamber is isolated from the suction chamber. Gas is introduced from outside of the housing into the suction chamber. A rotary shaft is rotatably supported in the housing. The cam is accommodated in the crank chamber. A piston is operatively coupled to the rotary shaft through the cam. Rotation of the rotary shaft is converted to reciprocation of the piston. A seal member shuts communication between the cooling chamber and an atmosphere outside the compressor to seal an inside of the cylinder head. An introducing passage interconnects the cooling chamber and the crank chamber.

    • An air conditioning system for cooling a vehicle passenger compartment is disclosed. The system includes an air duct, a refrigerant circuit, a variable displacement compressor, and a controller. The air duct directs air conditioned air into the vehicle passenger compartment. The refrigerant circuit circulates a refrigerant, wherein a first portion of the circuit is exposed to the air duct and a second portion of the circuit is exposed to air external of the vehicle passenger compartment. The variable displacement compressor is in fluid communication with the refrigerant circuit, wherein the compressor has a control valve for regulating refrigerant flow between a compressor crankcase and a compressor discharge chamber and between the compressor crankcase and a compressor suction chamber. The controller in electrical communication with the variable displacement compressor for controlling refrigerant flow and a displacement of the compressor by actuating the control valves.
