摘要： A gasoline vapor storage canister is employed to temporarily store hydrocarbon vapors vented from the gas tank in an automotive vehicle using an engine or fuel cell motive means which is fuelled at least in part from an on-board-the-vehicle, partial oxidation (POx) reactor for converting gasoline to a hydrogen-containing POx fuel. During cold start situations, gasoline vapor is purged from the storage canister to supply a stream of combustible fuel/air mixture to the POx reactor for ignition and heat up of the catalytic reactor to its operating temperature.

摘要： An embodiment of the present invention is a portable hydrogen generation system for operating a vehicle powered by either the hydrogen internal combustion engine or a fuel cell using active metals such as sodium potassium, magnesium, aluminum or iron in the form of an emulsion, and a method thereof. The emulsion comprises a metal powder pre-mixed with oil. In the case of sodium, potassium and magnesium, the metal is reacting with water at or near room temperature. However, in the case of aluminum and iron, the metal is reacting with alkali hydroxide solutions. The system is controlled and managed by a microprocessor in order to generate hydrogen on demand at or near room temperature with a very high efficiency.

摘要： A hydrogen enhanced gasoline engine system using high compression ratio is optimized to minimize NOx emissions, exhaust aftertreatment catalyst requirements, hydrogen requirements, engine efficiency and cost. In one mode of operation the engine is operated very lean (equivalence ratio ø=0.4 to 0.7) at lower levels of power. Very lean operation reduces NOx to very low levels. A control system is used to increase equivalence ratio at increased torque or power requirements while avoiding the knock that would be produced by high compression ratio operation. The increased equivalence ratio reduces the amount of hydrogen required to extend the lean limit in order to avoid misfire and increases torque and power. The engine may be naturally aspirated, turbocharged, or supercharged.
