    • A bridge supports any desired loading capacity to cross rivers, ravines, highways, wetlands, and other areas where traffic or pedestrians conveniently access the opposite side. The structure is assembled in a number of ways at the bridge site, using smaller equipment and less time than is normally required. The prefabricated and trial fitted elements can be assembled at ground level and the structure can be launched on rollers across the area that is to be crossed, or can be assembled sequentially from one or both sides. The structure includes two or more box trusses supporting the bridge deck which is integrated into the structure. The upper portion of the trusses form the side barriers of the bridge and the deck with integrated cross members is fastened to the lower portion of the trusses, both of which are sized to accommodate the load bearing capacity of the traffic using the structure.

    • A rapid transit viaduct system includes a central load bearing body having a pair of lateral platform structures mounted on opposite lower side portions thereof for carrying one or more rapid transit vehicles on either side of the central load bearing body. The viaduct system further includes vertically extending piers positioned below and supporting the central load bearing body. Additionally, a central station platform can be formed wherein some of the precast concrete viaduct segments are vertically divided and spaced apart a selected distance. A plurality of spacer blocks are disposed between the spaced apart viaduct segments, and a plurality of platform slabs are disposed between the spaced apart viaduct segments, above the spacer blocks, to form a station platform.

    • A support system for a multiple-span bridge constructed of reinforced concrete or prestressed concrete includes a primary structure and a secondary structure. The primary structure bridges the spans between intermediate supports or between an abutment and an adjacent intermediate support and includes serially arranged support members elongated in the long direction of the bridge. The width of the support members is a fraction of the full useful width of the bridge. The secondary structure forms the roadway slab and is supported on the primary structure. The secondary structure is made up of serially arranged individual roadway sections extending in the long direction of the bridge. The roadway sections are supported by bearing members resting directly on the support members of the primary structure with the roadway sections being closely spaced in the elongated direction of the bridge as compared to the spans between the intermediate members and the abutments. The roadway sections extend over the expansion joints between the support members. The roadway sections can have a dimension in the elongated direction which is comparable to that of the support members or which is a multiple of the length of the support members. The support members can be constructed in place on the bridge, while the roadway sections can be constructed at a single site and then moved over the support members into their final position on the bridge.
