摘要： An ion implantation system is provided having an ion source configured to form an ion beam from aluminum iodide. A beamline assembly selectively transports the ion beam to an end station configured to accept the ion beam for implantation of aluminum ions into a workpiece. The ion source has a solid-state material source having aluminum iodide in a solid form. A solid source vaporizer vaporizes the aluminum iodide, defining gaseous aluminum iodide. An arc chamber forms a plasma from the gaseous aluminum iodide, where arc current from a power supply is configured to dissociate aluminum ions from the aluminum iodide. One or more extraction electrodes extract the ion beam from the arc chamber. A water vapor source further introduces water to react residual aluminum iodide to form hydroiodic acid, where the residual aluminum iodide and hydroiodic acid is evacuated from the system.

摘要： An enhanced antiperspirant active having improved stability and a process for preparing the enhanced antiperspirant active solution are disclosed, the process comprises blending an enhanced basic aluminum chlorohydrate antiperspirant active having a peak 4 content of at least 20% (Component A) with a zirconium hydroxychloride neutral amino acid complex (component B) and a conventional basic aluminum chloride (Component C) , the order of addition not being critical; wherein at least 10% by weight of the total aluminum being derived from Component A and about 90% to 10% of the aluminum being derived from Component C; thereby forming a stable antiperspirant active solution of enhanced efficacy, the overall concentration of reactants in solution being about 38% to 55% by weight.

摘要： Disclosed are basic aluminum antiperspirant materials having univalent complex oxoanions (e.g., nitrate); methods of making such materials; antiperspirant compositions containing such basic aluminum materials, another antiperspirant active material (e.g., a basic zirconium halide salt), and optionally a neutral amino acid; and methods of making such compositions. Size exclusion high performance liquid chromatography chromatograms of the disclosed basic aluminum materials have a peak 4 relative area of at least 25%, a peak 3 relative area of less than 60%, the sum of the peaks 3 and 4 being at least 50%; and less than 10% of the chromatographic peaks eluting at peaks 1 and 2. The disclosed basic aluminum materials have less than 25% of the aluminum in the form of Al.sup.b polyhydroxyaquoaluminum, and have a .sup.27 Al NMR spectrum in which the area of the 71.5-73.5 ppm resonance line includes more than 50% of the combined areas of the 62.5-63.5 ppm and 71.5-73.5 ppm resonance lines, and 5%-30% of the total area under the spectrum from 140 ppm to -80 ppm is contained in the resonance line at 71.5-73.5 ppm. The basic aluminum material of the present invention can be produced by adding a stoichiometric or near-stoichiometric amount of aluminum metal to a solution of an aluminum salt having a univalent complex oxoanion; the basic aluminum material can also be made by adding to such solution of the aluminum salt, aluminum metal having, in total, a relatively small surface area (large-sized particles of aluminum).

摘要： Alcohol soluble complexes of basic aluminum bromides may be prepared by adding zirconyl or zinc bromide or chloride, or zirconyl hydroxychloride or hydroxybromide, or mixtures of the above chlorides and bromides to an aqueous solution of 5/6 basic aluminum bromide, and drying the resulting mixture to a substantially friable solid, such as by vacuum or spray drying. The complexes preferably have an Al/Zn or AL/Zr mol ratio of about 3:1 to 20:1, and the complex solids preferably contain about 15 to 30 weight percent water by Karl Fischer analysis. Such complex solids have a high degree of solubility in anhydrous alcohol and a high compatibility with halogenated hydrocarbons. These properties make the complexes suitable for aerosol formulations and particularly antiperspirant compositions.
