    • A method and system for separating hydrogen and sulfur from hydrogen sulfide(H2S) gas being produced from oil and gas waste streams. The hydrogen sulfide(H2S) gas is first passed into a scrubber and filtration unit where it encounters polysulfide solution. Elemental sulfur is freed when the H2S interacts with the solution, the sulfur is filtered through a porous media such as a ceramic frit, and continues to a stripper unit where the excess H2S is removed from the sulfide solution. The excess H2S returns to the scrubber and filtration unit, while the sulfide solution passes into a photoreactor containing a semiconductor photocatalyst such as Cadmium Sulfide(CdS), Platinized Cadmium Sulfide, Pt-CdS, Zinc Sulfide, ZnS, Zinc Ferrate, ZnFe2O4, Indium Sulfide, In2S3, along with a 450-500 nm light source.

    • In a process and corresponding device for scrubbing acidic gases out of flue gases using adsorbent-containing suspensions, the flue gases are conveyed into a scrubber with narrowing channels and accelerated in a first stage in a direction opposite to the flow of suspension droplets and in a second stage in the same direction as the flow of liquid droplets, the suspension having already been broken down into droplets before or at the beginning of the acceleration section. Reflux of the suspension into the acceleration section is prevented by the shape of the channels. Flue gas and suspension droplets react and in the connecting first mist precipitator, the droplets are turned around 180° in the direction of gravitational forces.

    • The disclosure concerns a process for removing mercaptans from fluid streams comprising same, especially from hydrocarbon gas streams, for example natural gas, synthesis gas from heavy oil or heavy residues or refinery gas, or else from liquid hydrocarbons, for example LPG (liquefied petroleum gas). The invention comprises intimately contacting the fluid stream in an absorption or extraction zone with a scrubbing liquor comprising at least one aliphatic alkanolamine of 2-12 carbon atoms, the amount of wash liquor being supplied to the absorption or extraction zone being sufficient to remove at least CO2 and H2S essentially completely from the fluid stream, and separating the substantially decontaminated fluid stream and the contaminated wash liquor and discharging them from the absorption zone. The substantially complete removal of CO2 and H2S is accompanied by the removal from the gas, stream of a very large portion of the mercaptans as well, without a significant fraction of the hydrocarbon gases dissolving in the wash liquor.
