摘要： A skin treatment composition containing ionic calcium and a dermatologically acceptable water-soluble, water-miscible or water-based carrier is provided for treating a skin condition in a mammal, such as dry skin, dry scalp, a burn, sunburn, irritation or minor wound. The ionic calcium is preferably present as the water soluble calcium glycerophosphate salt. The composition may be present in a formulation such as bar soap, liquid soap, bath, lotion, cream, gel, or ointment, and may also be useful for stimulating more youthful skin cells and for improving the appearance of the skin. Methods for treating skin conditions and for accelerating cellular repair include topically applying to the skin an effective amount of ionic calcium, preferably as calcium glycerophosphate, and an null-hydroxy acid such as lactic acid.

Desirably, the inclusion of the tetrametaphosphate compound (e.g., salt or ion) in a pre-set treatment of a calcium sulfate material enhances the resistance to permanent deformation (e.g., sag), dimensional stability, and/or compressive strength of the composition while also preferably avoiding any significant retardive effect on the rate of hydration of calcined gypsum to calcium sulfate dihydrate. A set gypsum-containing product and a method for producing a set gypsum-containing product having increased resistance to permanent deformation are also disclosed.

摘要： A lean-burn gasoline engine including an exhaust system, which system has a first oxidation catalyst for oxidizing engine-derived, unburned hydrocarbons during null>1 conditions, and a NOx-trap downstream of the oxidation catalyst. Also included in one embodiment is by-pass means arranged between an upstream end and a downstream end of the oxidation catalyst and means for switching at least some exhaust gas flowing in the exhaust system to flow in the bypass during rich or stoichiometric running conditions, thereby substantially to prevent bypassed exhaust gas from contacting the oxidation catalyst. Included in the invention are methods of treating the exhaust gas streams with the apparati defined above.
