    • A self-locking reduction device used in a winch has a support to which an input shaft is rotatably mounted. The input shaft has an eccentric shaft portion. Three pins are formed at regular intervals on a circumference around the center of the eccentric shaft portion on an external gear that is mounted to the eccentric shaft portion. Three bores are formed at regular intervals on the support facing the external gear on a circumference around the center of the input shaft. The pins are engaged with the bores so that the external gear may be eccentrically moved. The number of internal teeth of the internal gear is slightly more than that of the external teeth of the external gear, thereby providing a reliable self-locking reduction device.

    • In a rope hoist (9), the output shaft (37) of the gearing (19) is provided in one piece with an end plate (57). This end plate (57) is designed in such a way that it can be inserted into a locating seat (66) of the tubular rope drum (17). The end plate (57) is screwed in the rope drum (17) by means of radial fitting screws (72). There is also a recess (67) at the other end of the rope drum (17), and a similar end plate (75) can be fastened in this recess (67) in the same manner. This other end plate carries a bearing journal (76). On account of this arrangement, the manufacture of the rope drum (17) and the entire assembly are simplified, complicated shaft joints between the output shaft (37) and the rope drum (17) being dispensed with on account of the mounting of the rope drum (17) by means of the output shaft (37) of the gearing (19). In addition, the rope hoist (9) may be split up into comparatively small subassemblies for dispatch.

    • For providing a chain lever hoist that can ensure a stable free rotation operation over a long term with a simple design, improvement is made in the chain lever hoist wherein an engaging pawl is switched to a neutral position, at which the engaging pawl is not allowed to engage with engaging teeth in the forward direction or a reverse direction, by the operation of a selector lever and then a load chain on the non-loaded side is pulled or an operating handle is rotated in the reverse direction to thereby produce the free rotation state just the way it is, the improvement being such that the operating lever is rotatably supported on a brake cover at its opening with a predetermined spaced interval from a first hub. By virtue of this, the first hub is allowed to rotate together with the drive shaft, without contacting with the operating lever, during the free rotation operation, and as such can attain reliable free rotation operation.

    • A windlass assembly includes a single-turn gypsy for engaging the line and/or chain of an anchor rode of a water craft. This has to be driven from a drive shaft, but also has to have the capacity to rotate relative to the shaft under the influence of the anchor as it is paid out. A lever is movable between positions where it engages drive to and disengages drive from the gypsy. It is biased (e.g. by a spring) towards the engaged position, but in its other position can be pressed onto the gypsy to control the friction to which the latter is subject while rotating relative to the shaft.

    • The object is to provide a chain hoist with an overload prevent device, ensuring an easy and secure adjustment of load limit numerical values. It comprises a pressing drive member 8 for pressing and rotating a pressure receive member 7 by way of a backstop wheel 11 and friction members 9 and 10, and an axially displaceable, rotary drive member 14 adapted to transmit a rotational force of a hand chain wheel 15 to the pressing drive member. The rotary drive member is urged toward the pressing drive member by a belleville spring 24. The pressing drive member and the rotary drive member have lock teeth 80 and 140 that are formed on their respective confronting faces. The lock teeth 80 and 140 include steeply sloped wind-down press faces 80a and 140a, respectively, and gently sloped wind-up press faces 80b and 140b, respectively. A rotation limit member intervenes between the rotary drive member 14 and the belleville spring 24 in order to prevent a rotational force of the rotary drive member from being transmitted to the belleville spring and a nut 25 even though the rotary drive member is rotated while climbing over the gently sloped faces in an overload condition.

    • A drive motor arrangement for replacing manual drives on an existing boat lift winch shaft comprises a worm gear box with a worm driven by an integrally mounted motor on the worm gear box. A worm gear is mounted on a tubular cross shaft extending outwardly on opposite ends of the gear box. The bore of the cross shaft is of size to slide over an existing winch drive shaft. The tubular shaft has a drive connection that mates with the existing drive connection on the winch box shaft. As shown a disc that effects drives to a mating disc on the winch box shaft. After removing the manual ratchet and wheel on an existing winch shaft, the tubular shaft of the worm gear box can be put into place and a suitable fastener is used to hold the drive connection on the tubular shaft in engagement with the drive member on the winch shaft.
