    • The invention is an apparatus for winding line onto a spool having a hub with an inner surface defining a central cavity therein, wherein the apparatus comprises: a header having a longitudinal axis and opposing first and second sides; a pair of prongs transversely and outwardly extending from the first side of the header; a prong adjustment means for adjusting the longitudinal separation between the prongs, which as received in the cavity of the spool can be adjusted to be in snug contact with said inner surface to thereby securely hold the spool; a shaft affixed to the header so as to transversely and outwardly extend from the second side thereof; and a rotation means for rotating the shaft to thereby also rotate the header and prongs, such that the spool as securely held by the prongs is rotatable by rotation of the shaft so as to permit winding of line upon the spool.

    • A material transfer system is disclosed using a hollow cylindrical lock shaft for rewinding flexible material from an original core to at least one transfer core. The shaft has an interior and exterior wall, a length, and at least one curved locking base recessed along the length. The bases have a first and second wall with a floor having a progressively decreasing radius from the first to the second wall. Multiple legs extend radially inwardly from the interior wall and have gripping feet are at their distal ends. A plurality of locking ribs extend the length of the locking bases and are affixed to the floor at the each end of the rib. The locking ribs have a diameter sufficient to enable the locking rib outer circumference to extend beyond the circumference of the shaft exterior. At least one locking strip is affixed to at least a portion of the shaft's length, extending beyond the circumference of the exterior wall to prevent the cores from moving freely. The locking strip can be affixed to the locking base floor or a channel can be placed in the shaft and the locking strip being affixed within the channel.

    • An adhesive tape reel loading structure includes a displacement plate with an axle mounted thereon and being housed in a housing compartment of a tape stand and a loading disk mounting on the axle. The loading disk has an inner ring for holding a small adhesive tape reel and an outer ring for holding a large adhesive tape reel. The air cylinders may contain therein a spring member with a retainer, a piston for the cylinder and an air chamber for the passage of air, whereby to move the inclined walls with the spring members or pneumatically, thus protruding or retracting the lugs.

    • A core chuck has a generally spool-shaped mandrel with an outer surface configured to define three longitudinally extending lobes. A set of three or more arcuate friction plates surround the lobular outer surface of the mandrel and are movably held in place with elastic bands. Each friction plate has an inner surface contoured to conform to the shape of a corresponding lobe of the mandrel and an outer surface for frictionally engaging the inside surface of a core. The outer surfaces of the friction plates align to form a cylindrical shell. The friction plates are circumferentially slidable around the mandrel between first or retracted positions wherein the plates rest on their respective lobes and form a shell of a first diameter and second or expanded positions wherein the friction plates span adjacent lobes and form a shell of a second diameter greater than the first diameter. In use, a core chuck is inserted in each end of the hollow core of a roll of material and a shaft is inserted through and secured to the chucks. Relative rotational movement between the roll and the chucks in either direction causes the friction plates to slide toward their second positions, expanding outwardly and frictionally engaging the inside surface of the core. Driving or tensioning forces applied to the shaft are thus transferred to the entire roll through the chucks.

    • A recoiler/uncoiler for use in a line processing sheet material includes a segmented drum that is expandable from a contracted position to an expanded position. To enable the drum to accommodate coils of sheet material having different internal diameters, a sleeve consisting of sleeve segments which match the segments of the drum is installed on the drum and is expandable and contractible therewith. The cradle includes magnets which hold the sleeve in the expanded position after the sleeve is disengaged from the drum, to thereby permit removal of the sleeve. When the sleeve is reinstalled on the drum, the cradle transports the sleeve to its position circumscribing the drum, the drum is then expanded, and the sleeve is secured to the drum, whereupon the cradle is transported away from the drum and sleeve.
