摘要： A grooved traverse drum for winding yarn on to a bobbin comprises a yarn guide groove spirally formed in an external surface thereof and including inversely running forwarding and returning paths connected with each other at a pair of turning points situated at opposite ends of the drum, portions of the forwarding and returning paths immediately following the respective turning points having a greater lead angle so that the yarn being guided moves towards the center of the drum as quickly as it passes the turning points, thereby preventing the formation of stitch at end surfaces of a yarn package being produced.

摘要： The invention concerns an improved yarn package, process and apparatus. The improved package has particular utility in automated processes for making melt spun yarn. Broadly, the invention comprises (a) a cross wound package of melt spun flat filament yarn that is characterized by the yarn's outer end being pile wound in a compact bunch on the cross wound package's surface, the yarn end comprising at least twenty pile turns, the pile turns comprising upstream pile turns and downstream pile turns, and wherein the upstream pile turns partly underlap the downstream pile turns; and (b and c) modifications to conventional process and conventional apparatus for winding yarns, in order to make such packages, particularly at speeds greater than 3000 mpm.

摘要： An improved construction of a rotary yarn-distributing cylinder cooperable with a yarn take-up bobbin at the output of an open-end spinning machine or similar textile apparatus is described. The major portion of the periphery of the distributing cylinder is formed by or covered with a smooth material having a high coefficient of friction to promote efficient driving engagement with the adjacent bobbin. The boundaries of the first surface region are separated from the respective edges of the inclined distributing grooves on the cylinder periphery by second surface regions in the form of smooth strips. The strips exhibit a coefficient of friction considerably lower than the coefficient of the material of the first surface region to permit smooth and unretarded payoff of the yarn in the grooves to the bobbin as the cylinder rotates.
