摘要： A drug delivery device is provided that includes a device body, a number of solid, compressed drug tablets, and a retention frame. The device body includes a drug reservoir lumen and a retention frame lumen. The number of solid, compressed drug tablets are positioned in the drug reservoir lumen, and the retention frame is positioned in the retention frame lumen. The drug tablets may be mini-tablets aligned in the drug reservoir lumen, with an interstice formed between any two adjacent drug tablets facilitating deformation of the device body. Systems and method are also provided for loading a drug delivery device. In one embodiment, the method includes positioning one or more solid drug units upstream of the drug delivery device; and driving the drug units into the drug delivery device with a flow of pressurized gas.

The smaller openings in the region near the side wall of the hopper where the powder more easily falls from the hopper into the container impedes the fall of the powder in that region and improves the overall uniformity in the filling density.

The filling assembly has a handle which can be gripped by a user so as to manually operate the filling assembly. The filling assembly also has a hose which receives suction. A valve is used to control the suction applied to the objects, and is operable between a retain and release configuration. The filling assembly also has at least one prong which is in fluid engagement with the hose so that an object is retained at the end of the prong when the valve is in the retain configuration, and so that the object can be released into the cavities of the packaging when the valve is in the release configuration. An improved valve design facilitates control of the vacuum and helps release excess pills that can be retained by a single prong.
