    • The present invention relates to a sealed flexible cartridge, designed to be extracted under pressure, containing a beverage-forming substance for the preparation of a beverage. The cartridge has first and second sheets of circular, oval or polygonal shape which leave between them a space for the substance and are welded together around their periphery. The first sheet is made of a material chosen from filter paper, a non-woven material and a semi-rigid material and the second sheet is made of a material chosen from filter paper, a non-woven material and a composite. The first sheet is such that it allows water at atmospheric pressure to pass through it or by piercing and the second sheet is such that it allows water to pass through it only if an overpressure of between 0.1 and 3 bar is achieved during extraction from the cartridge.

    • This invention relates to a process consisting in the automated preparation of cartridges containing a substance to infuse, like coffee, tea or types of herbal tea and the cartridge itself. The plastic cartridges are formed in a ring shape, in which the interior area can contain radial members, thus giving rigidity and uniformity to the cartridge. The infusion substance is put inside the cartridge and an infusion paper or filter is glued to the cartridge surfaces and seals the cartridge. The infusion paper is made from a fiber composition which is resistant to high infusion temperatures and is unrolled as a continuous band on top and underneath the cartridges. After sealing the infusion paper to the cartridges, that same paper is cut along the cartridges perimeter in a clean and direct way, without leaving any exceeding part or leftovers. These cartridges are destined for new vending or infusion machines.

    • A beverage infusion device having an increased surface area for infusion of a dry beverage material, thereby facilitating faster brewing and more intense flavor. The infusion device includes a liquid permeable pouch divided into smaller sections, which hold the dry beverage material, thus preventing the dry beverage material from clumping at the bottom of the pouch. The pouch basically comprises two layers of permeable material attached in a pattern of strategic points that preferably form a multidimensional grid. The attachment points divide the layers into the smaller beverage holding sections. This design increases the exposure of the dry beverage material to the liquid. This increased exposure allows for better infusion. The beverage infusion device of the present invention provides a method for infusing a dry beverage material that is quicker than traditional brewing methods and produces full flavor in less time.
