    • A submarine support ship is preferably a triple-hulled vessel; the lower portion of the ship is a paired-hull catamaran which is capable of deep diving, clasping the submarine at deep sea, and floating upwards together with the clasped submarine. The upper portion of the ship is a buoyancy tank, which can supply air to and pull up the deep-diving lower portion, and can also conduct security of an ocean-going submarine. For the submarine support ship of the present invention, by utilizing a mature deep diving submersible technology, the lower portion of the submarine support ship is manufactured as a deep-diving submersible in a submarine contour form, which is quickly separated from the upper portion of the submarine support ship and dives to reach the submarine position in the deep sea, clasps the submarine and then floats upwards together with the submarine as a whole to the water-surface position, such that the egress hatch of the submarine is docked with a dedicated docking hatch of the submarine support ship, to implement rescue security of the submarine; which mainly solves the problem that the rescue water-depth of current deep-diving lifeboats is shallow, but it also solves the problems that the deep-diving lifeboat has many rescue links, slow speed, and can only save people, but not submarines.

    • The securing of cable, and particularly the securing of laid light weight submarine telephone cable during repair operations, is difficult in that if the cable is merely gripped it tends to fillet and slip away. The invention seeks to overcome this problem by belaying a bight of the cable about an axis thus to secure the cable generally in the manner of a rope upon a windlass. Apparatus embodying the invention may be drawn over ground supporting the cable, in the manner of a trawl, with flukes ploughing the ground. When the apparatus crosses the path of the cable to be secured, the cable is ploughed up and guided into a lateral line, triggering an hydraulic circuit to cause an axially mounted spool to rotate and belay the bight of cable by wrapping the cable upon the spool. A second hydraulic circuit is then activated to cause the cable to be severed on one side of the spool axis and clamped on the other side, whereupon the secured section of cable can be raised for repair. Various states of the apparatus can be signalled to a towing vessel by sonar, and the apparatus is arranged to be usable in each of two relatively inverted positions.

    • The present invention provides an improved grapnel which permits towed ars to be retrieved more easily and with less chance of damaging the array. The invention includes a pair of U-shaped members attached to a center stock, the U-shaped members being attached in a perpendicular relationship to each other. A threaded rod connects each vertical portion of the U-shaped members to the center stock, and each row has a roller disposed thereon. The grapnel further includes a hub disposed on the center stock proximate the rollers and ramps respectively attached to each vertical portion of the U-shaped members, for guiding a towed array into engagement with the rollers.

    • A passive sonar array mounting and recovery apparatus comprising a frame that is mounted on a plurality of legs. A net is stretched across the interior region of the frame and is held in place with twine. Centrally located and extending vertically upward from the frame is a center post. A plurality of grapnel rods have their ends attached to the upper end of the center post and the other ends attached to the periphery of the frame. The grapnel rods are uniformly spaced apart and extended outward and downwardly from the top of the center post to the frame. At the corners of the frame are vertically extending transducer support members. Two transducers are respectively supported by a horizontal tower and a vertical tower that are attached to and extend outwardly from the frame.
