    • The invention relates to a locking unit (4) for a seat belt retractor (1), which locking unit (4) is provided at one end of a seat belt spool (3) of the seat belt retractor (1), on which a seat belt (2) is retracted, so that when the seat belt (2) is quickly unrolled a locking arm (14) of a locking lever (13) is locked with an internal gearwheel (Z), as a result of which the seat belt spool (3) is locked, wherein the locking unit (4) has the following elements: the locking lever (13) with a center of rotation (D) arranged spaced apart from the center of the seat belt spool (3), an actuator arm (15) and the locking arm (14); a triggering unit having an inertia weight (17), a counter-pressure spring (18) and a transmission arm, which engages with the actuator arm (15), wherein the triggering unit is formed to rotate the locking lever (13) about the center of rotation (D) and to lock the locking arm (14) by means of the stationary internal gearwheel (Z) that is arranged about the locking lever (13) in the case of a fast acceleration of the unrolling of the safety belt (2), conditioned by the inertia force of the inertia weight (17) acting against the spring force of the counter-pressure spring (18), wherein a cover ring (19) is provided between the locking lever (13) and the internal gearwheel (Z), which cover ring (19) can be rotated into a covering position when the seat belt (2) is retracted, in which covering position the cover ring (19) at least partially covers the region between the locking arm (14) and the internal gearwheel (Z) in order to prevent locking, and which can be rotated into a release position when the seat belt (2) is unrolled, in which release position the cover ring (19) releases the region between the locking arm (14) and the internal gearwheel (Z) in order to permit locking.

    • When an axis of rotation 9a2 of a spool rotates in the seatbelt retracting direction, a lock gear 13 rotates clockwise which is the same direction as the spool, and an eccentric gear 16 rotates counterclockwise. A cam 20 of the eccentric gear 16 comes into contact with a lever 36 of the control lever 35 to cause the control lever 35 to rotate counterclockwise to take an operating position. A pressed pin 42b of a lever 42 comes into contact with a lever 37, so that levers 42, 43 rotate counterclockwise. A holding portion 42c of the lever 42 opposes a flywheel 14. Accordingly, since the holding portion 42c presses a held portion 14d when the entire amount of a seatbelt 4 is retracted, a rocking movement of the flywheel 14 is prevented and hence end locking is prevented.

    • A webbing retractor includes a retracting shaft; a lock member regulating the rotation of the retracting shaft in the pulled-out direction; a rotating body connected to the retracting shaft; a rotation detecting member that is relatively displaced with respect to the rotating body by inertial force, by which rotation of the rotating body in the pulled-out direction is regulated, and by which the lock member is actuated; and a regulating member having an engaging portion that engages with the rotation detecting member because of the rotation of the rotating body in the retraction direction. The engagement of the engaging portion with the rotation detecting member is released as the engaging portion is displaced toward a radial direction inside of the rotating body by the rotation of the rotating body in the pulled-out direction.

    • In a webbing winder, when a webbing belt is wound around a spool, a V gear is rotated in a winding direction together with a W pawl, a friction spring, and a contact member, thereby generating a frictional force between the contact member and a sensor holder. As a consequence, the friction spring and the contact member are located at a restriction position, so that the friction spring engages with an engaging surface of the W pawl. Therefore, even if the spool and the V gear are rapidly and slightly rotated in a withdrawal direction in reaction when the webbing belt is completely wound by the spool, the W pawl cannot mesh with a ratchet gear formed at the sensor holder due to the restriction of oscillation of the W pawl, thus preventing any end lock.

    • In a webbing retractor, internal teeth, which engage with a pawl for a WSIR, are formed independently as a gear for a WSIR. External teeth are formed at an outer peripheral surface of the gear for a WSIR. There is another pawl which meshes with the external teeth. By utilizing a mechanism for switching between an ELR and an ALR, at a time when an entire amount of a webbing is taken-up, the pawl is moved apart from the external teeth against urging force of an urging device, such that the gear for a WSIR is held in a rotatable state. At other times, the pawl engages with the external teeth and fixedly holds the gear for a WSIR. When end locking arises, restraint of the gear for a WSIR is released, and the pawl immediately moves away from the internal teeth.

Further, the inertial force imparting mechanism that suppresses and deters rotation of the inertia plate in a webbing take-up rotation direction by the inertial force imparting mechanism applying inertial force in a webbing pull-out rotation direction to the inertia plate which attempts to rotate in a webbing take-up direction even after rotation of the take-up shaft in the webbing take-up rotation direction has stopped when a vehicle occupant cancels an applied state of the webbing and the entire webbing is taken-up.

The retractor allows the webbing to be pulled out to its full length without actuation of the ALR lever.
