    • To facilitate mounting of an oil cooler and a cooling fan. An oil cooler which is a cooler and a cooling fan are accommodated in the same case to form a cooling unit. This case is divided into a lid on the front half portion side and a fan cover on the rear half portion side, and the oil cooler is accommodated in the lid while the cooling fan is accommodated in the fan cover. The two members are put together from the front and the rear and are integrated with each other by means of fastening screws. Suspending projections project on the left and right of an upper face of the lid, and are attached to upper pipes, which are part of a vehicle body frame, through suspending brackets. Further, the oil cooler is accommodated in the lid in a state wherein damper rubber members are applied to four corners thereof. Consequently, the damper rubber members function as a rubber mounting structure in a non-coupled state wherein they are merely interposed between a joint recess and the oil cooler.

    • A cooling module mounting system and method of mounting the package to a vehicle is described. A chassis cross member for providing vertical support to the cooling package is sub-assembled to the cooling module separate from the vehicle where the two mounting surfaces can be held parallel to one another eliminating the possibility of unevenly preloading the isolator. Then this pre-assembled isolated system can be mounted on the truck chassis without changing the relationship of the compressed isolator when the module is bolted down during truck assembly. This system eliminates the fore aft adjustment variability allowing for more control over the static location and isolator compression of the cooling module in the truck. The stay rods used eliminate variation in the rod isolator compression during mounting. The stay rod also allows for controlled multi-axial movement with a mounting centerline perpendicular to the input loads.

    • A front end assembly for a motor vehicle is provided including a U-shaped cross-car support member capable of being spot welded to a pair of cowl members and a pair of rail members. The U-shaped cross-car support member preferably comprises a hydroformed tube having a lower section disposed laterally with respect to a longitudinal axis of the vehicle, a pair of upwardly projecting side sections extending essentially orthogonal to the lower section, and a pair of outwardly projecting end sections extending essentially orthogonal to the upright sections so as to be nearly parallel to the lower section. A cowl bracket is connected to each of the end sections and is spot welded to each of the cowl members. Similarly, a rail bracket is connected to each of the side sections and is spot welded to each of the rails. Advantageously, the ability to spot weld the cowl and rail brackets enables the U-shaped support member to be installed within the front end assembly in a high speed automated process. Further, the welds between the support member and the cowls and rails substantially strengthens the cross-car stiffness of the front end assembly.
