    • Methods and systems are disclosed for controlling cutting depth of a label media such that the depth of cut is media-specific, that is, specific to the media being cut. The method includes: providing a plotter cutter and a force-generating mechanism; providing a memory device for electronic communication with the plotter cutter, the memory device having a label media-specific value stored thereon; reading the label media-specific value from the memory device; converting the label media-specific value to a label media-specific current signal; providing a label media-specific current based on the label media-specific current signal; applying the label media-specific current to a force-generating mechanism; generating a label media-specific cutting force based on the label media-specific current; and transferring the label media-specific cutting force to the plotter cutter to control plotter cutting at the label media-specific cutting depth. The methods and systems work towards eliminating waste or scrap plotter test cuts by plotter cutting a label media using information from, for example, a memory device associated with a label media supply. The methods and systems obviate the need for manual resetting of plotter cutter depth from one label media to another.

    • A process and device are provided for setting the crop mark for and/or in a print production, in which prints are continuously printed on a web. At least one printing couple for printing on a web is provided. A lengthwise cutting device cuts the web into a first web strand and at least one second web strand. A converging device is provided for converging the first web strand with at least the second web strand and/or at least one other web strand to form a bundle. A cross-cutting device cuts the bundle. A crop mark setting device is provided with at least one deflecting device for each of the web strands of the bundle. The deflecting devices form a deflection axis for the web strand of the bundle, the web strand being associated with it. The deflecting device is mounted movably such that the particular deflection axis formed is adjustable at right angles to an axial direction by a maximum adjusting path length. The maximum adjusting path length of each deflecting device is such that the adjusting path lengths by which the deflection axes must be adjusted for setting the crop mark positions of the web strands, the crop mark positions being related to the cross-cutting, can be split between the deflecting device of all web strands of the bundle.

    • Disclosed herein is a label printer-cutter comprising a frame; a print head assembly connected to the frame, the print head assembly including a print head for printing to a label media; a cutting assembly connected to the frame, the cutting assembly for cutting of the label media; and a controller in operative association with the print head assembly and the cutting assembly; wherein the controller can be programmed to control the print head assembly and the cutting assembly such that printing to and cutting of the label media does not occur simultaneously in the label printer-cutter. Also disclosed is a method for selectively printing to and cutting of a label media in a label printer-cutter, the method comprising: printing to a label media using a print head assembly; cutting the label media using the cutting assembly; and using a controller that is in operable association with the print head assembly and the cutting assembly to control the print head assembly and the cutting assembly such that printing to and cutting of the label media does not occur simultaneously in the label printer-cutter. Advantageously, printing to and cutting of a label media in a single label printer-cutter unit is accomplished in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
