摘要： A raw material delivery system is disclosed. It is used with a press of the type used to compact raw material in a die. The press has a horizontal table with an opening in which the die is held. A feed shoe is movable across the table between an extended position where a central bore of the feed shoe overlies the die and a retracted position. In one embodiment, a vertically movable feed tube is carried on a bridge, and has a passage through which raw material may pass. The vertically movable feed tube receives raw material from a vertically fixed feed tube received telescopically within the vertically movable feed tube. A valve is between the two feed tubes. A valve may be provided between the bridge and the feed shoe so that the raw material passes through this interface without being exposed to cross-ventilation. The vertically movable feed tube may be pivotally connected to the bridge so that the movable feed tube may be pivoted away from the bridge opening when it is desired to change the metal powder or the die. Both the fixed and movable feed tubes may be heated, and heated material may be received by the fixed tube. In another embodiment, a heated flexible hose extends from the vertically-fixed tube to the feed shoe.

摘要： An apparatus delivers plural molten plastic pellets into cavities for compression molding of the pellets into bottle closures or bottle closure liners. The apparatus is provided for delivering molten plastic pellets from a supply of molten plastic to a plurality of molding blocks, each molding block having a row of cavities. The molding blocks are carried on a rotating carousel. The apparatus includes a rotating multi-cutter with a plurality of cutter blades, and a manifold block which receives the extruded molten-plastic and delivers the molten plastic to a plurality of nozzles, each nozzle aligned with one or more of the cutter blades. The cutter blades remove a row of plastic pellets from the molten plastic at the nozzles and deliver the plastic pellets into one row of cavities of a molding block.

摘要： An apparatus and method for making a gradient gel. The present invention in one embodiment is a gel-making system that has a reservoir for holding a solution. The reservoir is connected to a movable arm through a tubing. The tubing has two ends: one end is in fluid communication with the reservoir, and the other, an open end, is received by the movable arm. A gel holder having an internal gel chamber is placed underneath the movable arm for receiving the solution. In operation, the movement of the movable arm causes the open end of the tubing to move along with it and the open end of the tubing delivers the solution in motion to the internal gel chamber to form the gel.

摘要： A method and apparatus for casting a molten material using a phase-change material. A funnel means is provided that includes a reservoir containing a phase-change material. The funnel means is used in conjunction with a mold. The phase-change material is heated to a temperature above its melting point. A molten material is poured into the mold, and an excess amount of the molten material is retained in the funnel means after the mold is filled. The latent heat of fusion of the phase-change material provides heat to the funnel means as the phase-change material changes from a liquid to a solid. The heat from the phase-change material maintains the temperature of the molten material within the funnel above its melting point as the molten material within the mold begins to solidify and contract, thereby permitting the excess material within the funnel means to feed into the mold and fill any voids or porosities formed by the contraction of the material within the mold. The funnel means may also include a neck-engaging portion in thermal contact with the phase-change material for engaging an upper, or neck, portion of the mold to maintain molten material contained within that portion above its melting temperature for an extended period of time. The apparatus and method are particularly well suited for use in casting explosive projectile shells.
