摘要： The disclosure herein describes various methods for producing a composite thickness metal part. Such methods include cutting out a base component having a first thickness, cutting out a foil sheet having a second thickness less than the first thickness, and loading the base component and the foil sheet into a fixture. Then the methods include passing the fixture containing the base component and the foil sheet through an ultrasonic welding machine to join the foil sheet to the base component and form an interim part that includes the foil sheet joined to the base component and cutting away preselected sections of the foil sheet from the interim part to produce a final geometry of the composite thickness metal part.

摘要： A punching device includes a punching unit, a driving unit, an edge detecting unit, a punching position setting unit, and a punching controlling unit. The punching unit punches three holes in a transported sheet along its transport direction. The driving unit moves the punching unit in an orthogonal direction. The edge detecting unit detects, in at least two locations separated from each other in the transport direction, an edge position of an edge of the sheet on one side in the orthogonal direction. The punching position setting unit sets a punching position corresponding to a hole to be punched by the punching unit in the orthogonal direction, on the basis of an amount of change in the orthogonal direction between the two edge positions. The punching controlling unit causes the punching unit to move to the punching position and punch a hole in the sheet.

摘要： A tool for inflating a chamber (50) in an article composed at least partially of polymer layers, such as thermoplastic layers. The tool can allow for forming an aperture in a polymer layer (350), inflating a chamber (50) or volume (130) in fluid communication with the aperture, and then welding or sealing the chamber (50) so that the inflation fluid is substantially retained in the chamber (50) and/or does not escape via the aperture. In various aspects, the formation of the aperture, inflation of the chamber (50), and sealing of the chamber (50) or aperture can be performed by a single tool and/or based on a single registration of the thermoplastic article with a tool. In some aspects, formation of the aperture is enabled in part by using a punch (100, 201, 205) with a cupped surface (341) that allows the top layer of a thermoplastic article to be breached without forming a hole in at least one lower layer (350).
