摘要： A slicing machine has a base which supports an inclined rotary knife driven by a motor and covered by a removable knife guard. A carriage is supported for reciprocation adjacent the knife and an adjustable gage plate, and includes a removable inclined tray member for supporting the articles to be sliced. A first interlock system prevents removal of the tray member until the gage plate is set at zero or flush with the knife, and a second interlock system prevents operation of the motor when the knife guard is removed for cleaning. A third interlock system assures that the motor will not operate when the knife guard is being reassembled in the event the main motor control switch was inadvertently actuated when the knife guard was removed.

摘要： Apparatus for cutting a body of rigid plastics foam material, such as polyurethane or poly-isocyanurate, comprises a bed for supporting the body and two sets of parallel cutting elements adapted to oscillate longitudinally out of phase with each other. The cutting elements may consist of helically twisted ribbons of electrical resistance alloy, twisted in such a way that the handedness of the twist varies at regular intervals along each element. The elements are heated to a temperature below the fusion temperature of the plastics material, and are passed through the body to sever it into a number of slabs.

摘要： Apparatus for separating the layers of textile bales, of either rectangular or cylindrical shape, and for feeding the separated layers to an opener, blender, card or other machine for subsequent processing. The apparatus includes separating means, and support means for supporting a bale and the separating means in separating relationship with each other and for providing relative motion between them. The separating means includes a parting tension mechanism for tensioning the fibers at the parting line between the bale and the layer being separated from it and producing the parting line ahead of the separating means, and also includes a blade for the removal of any fibers not successfully acted upon by the parting tension. The apparatus may be constructed so that the bale is stationary and the separating means is moved, or vice versa. A conveyor mechanism is provided for conducting each parted layer intact from the bale and to another machine, for subsequent processing.

摘要： Vegetable articles such as carrots have their tops removed as they are fed seriatim to a cutter which forces the vegetables against a fixed knife blade. The articles are checked for proper orientation for the cutting operation by a photometric sensing means which determines the color profile of the article as it is fed to the cutter. Upon a detection of the proper color profile for the vegetable, the cutter is activated to cut the vegetable when the same is in a proper position therefor. If the color profile detected is not proper, the cutter will not be activated and the vegetable will pass through the cutter without being cut thereby.
