    • A device and method for simultaneously cutting and scoring pieces of insulation consisting of thick fiber on a foil backing, for joining pieces of insulation. A dolly is provided for carrying a fifty-pound roll of insulation so that insulation can be pulled from the roll and over an attached cutting surface. Two parallel rotary knives move together across the insulation on the cutting surface. One knife cuts through both the fiber and foil. The other knife simultaneously makes a parallel cut 1.5 inches from the first, through the fiber but not the foil, so that the fiber between the two cuts can be removed from the foil. The foil from which the fiber has been removed, can then be overlapped onto the foil of another piece of insulation to join the two pieces.

    • First and second rotating units (110, 120) include a pair of rotors (111, 121) opposing each other, a spindle (113, 123) provided between the pair of rotors, and an impacting body (130, 140) mounted rotatably on the spindle (113, 123). The impacting body (130, 140) is mounted so that a predetermined fitting gap is provided between the impacting body and the spindle and a part of a periphery of the impacting body can be positioned beyond a periphery of the rotor. The impacting bodies of the first and second rotating units impact on an object to be processed sequentially while the rotating units are rotated at a high speed, thereby cutting the object to be processed. A cutting depth by the impacting body of the second rotating unit is larger than that by the impacting body of the first rotating unit, and the impacting body of at least one of the rotating units impacts on the object to be processed at least at a critical impact velocity. This makes it possible to cut an object to be processed formed of a single material or a composite material using a single cutting tool and to extend the lifetime of a cutting device and improve the reliability thereof.

    • A device for coupling to a battery operated flashlight comprising a window breaking implement, and a cutting implement, which can be a cap for covering the battery compartment of the flashlight. A thread can be provided for screw-type attachment to the flashlight and wherein said window breaking implement is arranged on a surface of the device which faces the surface provided for attachment to the flashlight. The window breaking implement can be centrally located in the device or cap and includes a striking pin at one end to break glass. The cutting implement consists of one or more blades located in a narrow recess in the device so as to cut seat belts or other thin fabric materials. Thus, the device can be provided to emergency personnel for use in car accidents to help evacuate passengers.
