    • A tube saw for precision cuts on tubing wherein a motorized circular saw is rotated about the circumference of a tube to cut it without leaving burrs, finishing marks or other deformations on the tubing. The tubing is held firmly and precisely by a plurality of facing triangular clamping elements and the clamping elements are centered and firmly locked in place relative the housing containing the saw to ensure the blade does not move relative the tube during the cut. The housing, rotatably holding the saw, has bearings with angular and radial stiffness to hold the saw firmly in position during the cut to ensure a high quality cut. A servomotor drives the rotatable portion of the housing at an even rate to cut the tubing with an even force and rate around its circumference. The saw is positioned close to the end of the clamping elements to limit bending and vibrations in the tubing from interfering with a square high precision cut. A radial feed control on the rotatable portion of the saw housing adjusts the radial displacement of the saw for cutting into the tube. The tube saw can be used on small tubing with high precision as well as larger tubes. The ability of the tube saw to hold the position of the tubing and the saw blade precisely while limiting vibrations in the tubing an the saw blade contribute to the high quality square cut provided by the tube saw.

    • A tube cutter designed for cutting a pipe where access is limited to the interior of the tube only. A rotatable cutter head mounted at the end of an elongated drive shaft carries a plurality of cuffing wheels. The tube cutter is inserted into a tube to be cut from one end thereof using the elongated drive shaft to position the cutter head in the tube. When the cutter head is inserted into the predetermined location, a feed drive is energized which rotates a scroll head to cause the cutting wheels to move in a radial direction to advance and engage the interior surface of the tube in a concentric manner undergoing cutting. When the tube has been severed, the feed drive rotation is reversed to retract the cutting wheels into the rotatable head, so as to enable removal of the rotary tube cutter from the tube.

    • A cut-off apparatus for non-circular tubes includes an axially movable carriage supporting one or more cutter assemblies and a drive system for driving the carriage synchronously with an advancing tubes. The advancing tube is received over a cutting mandrel mounted for movement with the carriage. The one or more cutter assemblies are disposed within the mandrel and comprise radially movable knives that are extended outward so as to cut the tube from the inside. The knives are urged radially outwardly by a cam moved by a control rod disposed within the mandrel. A clamp assembly is mounted on the carriage radially outwardly of the tube aligned with a cutter assembly, and includes clamp members that move inwardly to clamp the tube from the outside to restrain the tube against radially outward movement when being cut. The carriage drive system includes a motor for driving the carriage, a controller connected with the motor, and a sensor for detecting advancement of the tube so that the controller can drive the carriage in synchronism with the tube.

    • The intermediate support brace is used to prevent bending or deflecting of a cylindrical work piece being machined by a journal turning lathe. A U-shaped frame is mounted to the journal turning lathe, and secured to the journal turning lathe by a first and second clamping means which secure the intermediate support brace to the guide rails of the journal turning lathe. A generally circular opening in the frame surrounds the cylindrical work piece, and the work piece is centered by a series of jacks. The clamshell lathe assembly is translated from a first end bracket to the intermediate support bracket. The clamshell lathe is then stopped; the intermediate support bracket is released and mounted downstream from the clamshell lathe assembly. The clamshell lathe assembly is then restarted and translated to a second end bracket.
