    • A molding machine that defines upper and lower mold cavities while cope and drag flasks, having a match plate sandwiched therebetween, are rotated from a horizontal position to a vertical position. An upper squeeze member is insertable into the cope flask. A pressure-applying plane of the upper squeeze member defines an upper mold cavity together with the match plate and the cope flask. A pivoting frame supports the cope and drag flasks, having a match plate sandwiched therebetween, and the upper squeeze member, such that they rotate in unison between a horizontal position to a vertical position. A fixed filling frame abuts the drag flask when the cope and drag flasks are in the vertical position. A lower squeeze member has a pressure-applying plane that is oriented horizontally. The pressure-applying plane of the lower squeeze member defines a lower mold cavity together with the match plate, the drag flask, and the filling frame.

    • These inventions intend to provide an improved method and apparatus for molding molds having no flask. A match plate is put between an upper and a lower flask having intakes for foundry sand. An upper and a lower molding space are defined by inserting an upper and a lower squeeze means into openings of a pair of the upper and the lower flask having no match plate, and a pair of the upper and the lower flask and the match plate are rotated and moved so that they become perpendicular, and are moved so that the intakes of the flasks move upward. The upper and the lower molding space are filled with the foundry sand. The foundry sand in the molding space is squeezed by a squeezing means. A pair of the flasks and the match plate are rotated so that they become horizontal. Then the match plate is removed. If necessary, the core is installed between the molds, the flasks are matched to each other, and the molds are removed from the pair of flasks.

    • This invention relates to a mold rollover apparatus including a wheel member defining an axis and selectively rotatable about the axis and at least one carrier member carried by the wheel member and adapted to carry at least one mold member having a cast part disposed therein. The at least one carrier member is selectively rotatable at least from a first position, wherein the cast part is generally retained in the at least one mold member, to a second position, wherein the cast part is generally free to fall or drop from the at least one mold member. According to the present invention, the at least one carrier member is selectively rotatable about the axis at least from the first position to the second position independent of the rotation of the wheel member about the axis.

The chambers are rotated successively to the various stations where the steps of making sand molds are successively executed, such as filling with mold sand, compressing of the sand, removal of the mold halves and so on. Also disclosed is a plate within a mold chamber with a plurality of passages leading through the plate into the mold chamber for passing compressed air therethrough to thoroughly mix the sand while it is being compressed within the mold chamber.
