    • A cartwheel tumbling doll has a torso and a head mounted on the torso. An axis extends generally through the center of the head and torso. A pair of arms, each arm having a shoulder end and a hand end, are mounted for limited pivotal movement adjacent each arm's shoulder about a respective axis that is generally perpendicular to the center axis. A pair of legs, each leg having a hip end and a foot end, are mounted adjacent each leg's hip for limited pivotal movement relative to the torso about a respective axis that is generally perpendicular to the center axis. A weight is releasably connected to each hand. The foot of each leg contacts a substantially planar surface to support the doll in a generally upright position with the arms extended away from the feet and carrying the releasably connected weights. Pushing one side of the doll causes it to tumble sideways or cartwheel. When each weight contacts the surface, a release mechanism releases each weight from its respective hand permitting the doll to continue to cartwheel until the feet again contact the surface and the doll is in the generally upright position.

The improvement comprises a first rotational drive source for imparting an initial motion, a first movable member enabled to move by the first rotational drive source, a second movable member connected to the first movable member through a planetary gear mechanism, and a second rotational drive source for driving the second movable member.

    • A spinable balleria doll having a body, legs, feet arms, hands and a head. A pushrod extends through the body and out of the head. The pushrod is mounted for reciprocal movement relative to the doll. The pushrod engages a square drive nut located in the body of the doll to rotate the body as the pushrod is pushed into the body. Each leg is connected to the body and each foot is connected to its leg to permit rotation of one relative to the other. Releasable detents and teeth are associated with the body, legs and feet to permit each leg to be held in selected positions of rotation relative to the body and each foot to be held in selected positions of rotation relative to its leg.

    • A toy is provided which simulates a marine creature. The toy comprises a body portion and a tail portion with a tail fin pivotally mounted thereto; a battery operated motor housed in a water-tight compartment in the body portion to move the tail and the tail fin relative to the body portion to propel the toy through the water; a drive to drive the tail portion comprising a pair of parallel cranks mounted opposite one another on a single spindle and driven through gearing by the motor; and a drive member extending down within the top portion of the tail, the drive member being provided with a pair of slots, each slot receiving a pin connected to one of the cranks. Buoyancy may be achieved using floats located in the body and tail portions.
