    • A skate includes a shoe body and an attachment supporting a use element affixed to the sole of the shoe body by fasteners. Lateral support ribs formed on one of the attachment and the sole engage complimentary shaped apertures formed in the other of the attachment and the sole to isolate lateral torque forces from the fasteners. In a convertible skate, the lateral support ribs and the engaging apertures are formed in an adapter plate attached to the shoe body and an attachment plate forming a part of an attachment which is releasably mounted in the adapter plate. A plurality of distinct attachments, each having a different use, may be interchangeable mounted in the adapter plate and provide it with the lateral support ribs or engaging apertures.

    • A binding for a vehicle, such as a skate for skating on ice or a ski. The binding has an upper chassis section and a lower chassis section, which are interconnected by means of coupling means. The upper chassis section and the lower chassis section are arranged to be rollable relative to each other in the vehicle's longitudinal direction. The binding includes a first and a second contact surface at least one of the first and the second contact surface being curved. Thereby a stepless rolling motion between the upper chassis and the lower chassis is provided for, allowing the chassis to rock both backwards and forwards in relation to each other.

    • According to embodiments of the present invention, an apparatus for adjusting a forward pitch of an ice skate includes a shim. The shim has a top surface configured to contact a heel portion of a boot and a bottom surface configured to contact a heel plate of a blade holder. The thickness of the shim creates a distance between the heel portion of the boot and the heel plate of the blade holder. The shim thickness increases the steepness of the forward pitch of the ice skate boot. As an example the shim thickness may be between 5 mm and 20 mm. As another example, the shim may include a material such as styrene. As yet another example, the shim has an outer border that substantially matches the outer border of the heel plate.
