摘要： A hot oil/fat fire extinguisher, comprising a frame which supports a smothering material in a horizontal plane and a handle which allows the safe and effective application of the smothering material to a container of burning fat/oil. When not in use it may be stored in a holder which can be wall mounted. In the event of a container of fat/cooking oil igniting, the extinguisher can be removed from the holder by using the handle and presents a smothering material of a size and shape suitable for covering the container of burning fat/oil. This is placed over the container in the manner prescribed in the instructions of use, depriving the burning surface of air and achieving extinction.

摘要： A spark arrestor for processing railroad rails includes an annular body having an upper end wall provided with a first opening and a lower end wall provided with a second opening. The annular body has a pair of generally aligned, circumferentially offset, downwardly open recesses, each structured to be received over a portion of the railroad rail and each having a first plurality of downwardly extending shield elements, extending downwardly beyond the upper surface of the rail. Lateral surfaces of the annular body disposed between the downwardly open recesses have a plurality of second shield elements extending downwardly therefrom. A cutting torch or heating torch or welding torch receiving opening is provided in the annular body to facilitate insertion of the torch. The upper and lower end wall opening, each preferably having a grid structure to resist outward migration of sparks and flames from the interior of the spark arrestor.

The suppressor may be cylindrically shaped so that it wraps around a wooden utility pole or it may be a flat sheet adapted to be used under shingles or siding on a house or other suitable building. The fire suppressor comprises two layers. The first layer is adapted to reflect heat and is located on the outer portion of the sheet. The second layer is located closer to the object being protected. Above a certain predetermined temperature the second layer undergoes a chemical reaction to help protect the pole, building, or other object being protected.

摘要： A fire, heat and backdraft protection system is described for protecting firefighters in all types of fires. The protection system includes a composite laminate structure having a plurality of layers for the protection of firefighters who are exposed to high temperatures of 2200.degree. F. for 30 minutes in duration. The plurality of layers includes an outer first layer, an inner second layer and an inner third layer. The outer first layer is a fiberglass textile having an intumescent coating resistant to heat, water and impact. The inner second layer is a metal foil layer for reflecting heat and eliminates the convection transfer of heat. The inner third layer is a low conductivity refractory blanket for reducing the transmission of heat. The inner fourth layer is a metal foil layer for reflecting heat and eliminates the convection transfer of heat.

The fire plate is particularly adapted for use with integrated lock and latch assemblies that are designed for installation through a latch opening bored from an edge of the door into the lock opening. The latch opening has a diameter less than the lock opening and the fire plate blocks the space above and below the lock assembly in the lock opening to prevent the passage of smoke and fire through the lock opening. The fire plate includes two fire stop barriers that may be formed by bending from a sheet of spring steel and which preferably snap into engagement with the lock assembly as it is inserted from the latch opening into the lock opening.
