摘要： A fixation system includes a plate intended to be positioned against a bone, a plurality of bone screws for securing the plate along an non-fractured portion of the bone, and a plurality of bone pegs which extend from the plate and into bone fragments of the fracture to provide a supporting framework. The pegs can be oriented at various angles relative to an axis normal to the lower surface of the plate. For each peg, once the peg has been appropriately positioned within the peg hole, a set screw is threaded into the peg hole and tightened, thereby securing the peg in the selected orientation.

摘要： A bone nail, particularly a proximal femoral nail, has a nail shank having at least one cross-bore near one end and an axial bore having a threaded portion. A screw, for example, a femoral neck screw is provided having a threaded portion and a smooth shank portion between the threaded portion and a screw head, which can be introduced into the cross-bore. An interlocking pin or screw is placed in the axial bore. The locking pin has a male threaded portion interacting with the female threaded portion of the bore. The locking pin or screw has an end portion which engages the smooth shank of the screw to locate it axially and wherein at least the end portion of the locking pin is made of an elastically and/or plastically deformable material.

摘要： This invention relates to methods and instruments for performing a surgical procedure in a disc space between adjacent vertebrae. The instruments include a distractor and a cutting instrument. In one embodiment the distractor includes a body portion and a pair of flanges extending along opposite sides of the body portion such that a slot is formed between the flanges and the body portion. The cutting instrument is positionable over the body portion and into the slots of the distractor so that the flanges are positioned between the cutting instrument and the adjacent tissue.

摘要： An apparatus for depositing bone graft material into a mammalian body comprises a barrel member having an inner surface with internal threads. The barrel includes an exit port through which bone graft material placed into the barrel exits the barrel. A plunger member is disposed coaxially within the barrel member for pushing the bone graft material toward the exit port in the barrel. A mechanism is provided for advancing the plunger member within the barrel member. The plunger member can be rotatable and include external threads that are complimentary to and engaged with the internal threads in the barrel member to assist in moving the bone graft material toward the exit port in the barrel.

The primary screw includes an at least partially threaded leading portion and an at least partially threaded trailing portion. The secondary screw includes outer threads and has a central opening which is also threaded and adapted for being screwed onto and matingly engaging the trailing portion of the primary screw. Drivers can be used to rotatably control the primary screw and the secondary screw to cause compression of spaced-apart material, particularly for compression of bone fragments across a fracture line.
