摘要： The apparatus and method for delaminating tobacco in the form of slices from a layered parcel (10) comprise conveyor means (16) for delivering a parcel (10) of tobacco to a separating location (20) and a rotatable tine assembly (32) mounted on an axis (24) extending at right angle to the conveyor means (16) and parallel the layering of the parcel (10). The rotatable tine assembly (32) includes a plurality of tines (26) which are pointed and profiled to extend in the direction of rotation of the tine assembly (32) and are driven at a speed greater than that of the conveyor means (10). The tines (26) are adapted to enter the parcel (10) at an entering location (34) in a direction substantially parallel to the layering of the parcel (10) and to accelerate a layer (36) away from the parcel (10) for effecting separation of the layer (36) of tobacco from the parcel (10). The axis of the tine assembly (32) is arranged at a distance above the parcel (10) such that the line from the axis of the tine assembly (32) to the entering location (34) forms an angle between 14 and 24 with the horizontal and the peripheral speed of the tine assembly (32) is about three to five times the linear speed of the conveyor means (16).

摘要： A method for chemically modifying a tobacco material during a curing process involves treating the tobacco material in a curing enclosure at a temperature and for a time sufficient to produce cured tobacco. The method also involves contacting the tobacco material with a chemical reagent before and/or during the time period that the tobacco material is cured so that the chemical reagent can interact with the tobacco material, thus resulting in further change in the chemical nature of the cured tobacco material. An exemplary chemical reagent is an ammonia source, which can be applied to a tobacco material in a variety of ways, including by spraying an aqueous ammonia source onto the tobacco or by introducing gaseous ammonia into the curing enclosure during the curing process.

摘要： Sheet tobacco according to the present invention includes a carrier sheet made of nonwoven plant fibers, and a tobacco powder layer formed on the carrier sheet and containing a powder mixture of tobacco lamina powder and binder powder. In a sheet tobacco manufacturing process according to the present invention, a carrier sheet of plant fibers is formed by a nonwoven fabric production process, a tobacco powder layer is formed by spreading the powder mixture on the carrier sheet, and a cover sheet of plant fibers is optionally formed on the tobacco powder layer. Subsequently, the carrier sheet, the tobacco powder layer and the optical cover sheet are all together subjected to heating and pressing, thereby producing sheet tobacco with a two- or three-layer structure. The present invention also provides a manufacturing system for carrying out the sheet tobacco manufacturing process.

Humidity is raised within the enclosure by closing the openable and closeable side openings and introducing water or other aqueous solutions into the vertical air ducts while operating the in-line fans within the air ducts to diffuse the moisture and drive it upwards for warming and uniform distribution throughout the barn.
