    • A boom breakaway assembly for a spray boom used by a vehicle. The boom breakaway assembly includes a reciprocating system having a first position and a second position, a retention system, and a bias system. In the first position, the bias system applies a maximum effective bias rate to the reciprocating system and the retention system applies a holding force upon the spray boom to maintain the spray boom in a desired outward position. In the second position, the bias system applies a minimal effective bias rate to the reciprocating system and the retention system reduces or disengages the holding force upon the spray boom, thereby allowing the spray boom to move from the outward position to a breakaway position when the spray boom encounters an obstacle. The bias system returns the reciprocating system to the first position once the spray boom clears the obstacle.

    • A bearing shield and disk scraper system to remove and deflect dirt, debris, and soil from a bearing assembly, rigid bearing hanger or standard, and/or disk blade, is provided; the system also provides a protective barrier structure for the bearing assembly. The bearing shield and disk scraper system includes a shield member and a scraper blade connected thereto. The bearing shield at least partially encases and protects a bearing assembly that rotatably supports a common axle which carries multiple disk blades of the disk gang. The scraper blade is attached to the shield member by way of a mounting flange that extends therefrom. An edge of the scraper blade is positioned in close proximity to a concave surface of an adjacent disk blade, whereby the entire assemblage of bearing shield and disk scraper system protects the bearing assembly and prevents non-desired accumulation of dirt and debris on the disk blade.

    • A large diameter, short toothed rolling shield fabricated by vacuum forming talc filled polyethylene sheet having a smooth surface and sufficient flexibility to resist soil build-up in damp conditions. Preferably the diameter of the shield is substantially greater than twenty inches and on the order of twenty four inches and includes teeth uniformly spaced around the periphery, each tooth having a length less than approximately ten percent of the shield radius. A circular rib near the center of the shield and radial reinforcing ribs extending from the circular rib on the convex side of the shield to the base of alternating teeth provide stiffness and strength. The concave tool side of the shield is devoid of protrusions to reduce churning of thrown soil.

    • A reversible plough, that in one embodiment is of the semi-mounted type, and comprises a main beam, a coupling structure at the forward end of the main beam, and a carrying beam. Pairs of plough bodies are mounted along the length of the carrying beam. The reversible plough further includes a coupling beam that is secured to the carrying beam, and a soil preparation device such as a packer that prepares the soil turned over by the plough bodies for seed. The coupling beam projects laterally from the coupling beam in either ploughing position and is moveable with the carrying beam during plough body reversal. A hopper is mounted at a fixed location relative to the packer and the reversible plough combination, and a distributor is mounted on the packer and arranged to distribute the hopper content onto the ground. The hopper contents are conveyed by a flexible distribution system that includes a line extending between the hopper and the distributor.

    • An ozone containing gas is injected into soil, preferably substantially uniform in consistency, to kill biological life forms. A soil injector is used to inject ozone containing gas from an ozone supplier. In one embodiment, the ozone supplier is moved over the field by a structure such as a trailer or a vehicle. In another embodiment, a lattice arrangement of conduits is used to inject the ozone containing gas into the soil. The soil is optionally covered with a gas semipermeable or impermeable membrane subsequent to or prior to injection of the ozone containing as. In yet another embodiment, the soil is transferred to a chamber and subjected to in-vitro ozone treatment. In accordance with this invention, the soil is exposed to a sufficient concentration of ozone for a sufficient period of time such that the ozone oxidizes the impurities resulting in sanitization and a reduction of detrimental organisms.
