    • A key blank comprises a shaft and a head connected to the shaft, the shaft including first and second surface that are oppositely facing, wherein the surfaces are configured to include combination elements to operate a lock and a pair of coaxial operating elements, wherein one element of the pair is operative from the first surface of the shaft and the other element of the pair is operative from the second surface of the shaft, and wherein at least one of the operative elements is a resilient element mounted inside a bore provided in the shaft, wherein the resilient element is operative to exert a compressive force on a pin mechanism of the lock in response to the operative engagement and thereby release the pin mechanism from a lock position, without requiring any pressure on the coaxial element on the other side.

    • A lock has an outer casing and a lock cylinder rotatably mounted therein and having a coaxial keyway of round cross section plus several rows of radial bores to accommodate the tumblers and their springs, and also has a key which has notches on its outside profile for the engagement with the tumbler. The key has an equilateral polygonal bit cross section which matches the cross section of the keyhole in the front wall of the lock casing as well as a coaxial opening in the lock cylinder bottom, these cross sections of the keyhole and bottom opening being angularly offset from one another. The tip of the key bit has ramp surfaces corresponding to the rows of the tumblers, ascending toward the handle of the key and terminating each at one polygon face for the purpose of raising the tumblers, and the rows of notches are disposed between the polygon faces. The axial length of the polygonal cross section of the key is not greater than the length of the keyway in the lock cylinder and the adjoining portion of the key shaft is able to turn in the keyhole.

    • A key operated cylinder lock is disclosed, including a hollow stationary cylinder housing enclosing a turnable power transmission element and a locking bar having a position locking the turning movement of said power transmission element relative to said cylinder housing. The cylinder lock further includes a set of discs including a number of locking discs turnable by means of combination surfaces on a key of said lock, the locking discs being turnable, by the turning movement of said key, from an initial key insertion position to a releasing position, in which the power transmission element is released from its locked connection to the cylinder housing, whereby the key of the lock is arranged to directly transmit a turning force to a number of locking discs only in a direction from said initial position to said releasing position. The returning of these locking discs to their initial position is arranged to be carried out by means of a separate return bar, receiving turning power from said key through one or several members turning with the key. Thereby the lock is operable in both turning directions and, in addition, the correct turning angle, that is the combination value of a number of locking discs, can be different in opposite turning directions. The separate return bar is movable in a circumferential as well as a radial direction of the lock.
