    • A system for tensioning and locking a safety strand to a number of sequentially arranged stanchions is provided. The system includes tensioning means for applying a tensile force to one end of the safety strand when the safety strand is passed through a passage bore of each of the sequentially arranged stanchions and the other end of the safety strand is secured to an immovable object. Locking mechanisms are provided that each include a cable cradle having a receiving channel for receiving a portion of the safety strand, a clamping arrangement for engaging and trapping the portion of the safety strand within the receiving channel, and a device for securing the cable cradle and clamping arrangement to a stanchion. The cable cradle and securing device are configured so that when the cable cradle is secured to the selected stanchion, the receiving channel is in registry with the passage bore.

    • A U-bolt clamp saddle construction is disclosed particularly adapted for applications such as clamping catalytic converter pipe connections requiring a rigid saddle. The saddle clamp is of two-piece welded construction, each piece being formed of sheet steel with a square-sided channel on either side, each piece also having an intermediate web having a semicircular cutout adapted to engage the pipe diameter to be clamped. The outer edges of each of the channels are abutted by positioning the pieces together, which pieces are then welded at weld projections located along the edges and on the web to form a high strength flangeless saddle construction for maximum clearance at installation of the clamp. The square-sided channel allows clearance for weld flash, while enabling standard sized nuts to be used. A tab portion is formed on one of the pieces which is folded about the bottom edge and against the face of the other piece to create rigidity of the saddle during clamping adequate for good sealing pressure while affording sufficient yieldability for optimum interfitting with the pipe connection to be clamped.

    • A U-bolt clamp assembly for securing together the annular overlap of a pair of telescoped engaging pipes having a U-bolt having a semi-circular bight portion terminating in a pair of legs having threaded ends.     • A saddle pipe clamp is disclosed of the type including a U-bolt cooperating with a saddle member receiving the ends of the U-bolt which are adapted to apply a clamping pressure about the periphery of a pipe section by means of a pair of nuts threadably engaging the ends of the U-bolt, drawing the outer portion of the U-bolt towards a radiused inner contour of the saddle member. A folded sheet metal saddle member is constructed from a sheet metal blank folded into a three layer stack and spot welded together to form a unitary clamping saddle member. Formed end sections of the blank provide eyes for receiving the U-bolt ends. The middle layer is formed with a slightly smaller pipe engaging radius so as to act as a pressure ridge for sealingly deforming the pipe sections during clamping of the pipe joints. The outer contour of the saddle member is also radiused to minimize the envelope of the assembled pipe clamp without compromising the rigidity of the saddle member to the clamping forces.

    • A gate hinge assembly includes a pair of hinge members of opposite hand. Each hinge member includes an L-shaped bracket having at least one outwardly extending bosses in each leg with a hole through each boss, and a hinge plate extending outwardly from one of the legs of the bracket. The gate has a cylindrical upwardly extending projection and a cylindrical downwardly extending projection at one end. Each bracket receives and is fastened to the gate post by means of a bolt passing around the post and through the hole in each leg. Preferably two holes are provided in each leg to permit assembly on posts of different sizes and/or shapes. The cylindrical projections of the gate are received in aligned holes in the top and bottom hinge plates. Two holes may be provided in each hinge plate to permit different types of swinging movement of the gate.
