    • A tamper-evident device for valves comprises: an anti-theft buckle (1), provided with an anti-theft buckle body (17), a pulling portion (4), a tearable portion (5), an elastic hook (7), and a position limiting surface (6); an anti-theft cover (2), provided with a position limiting contour (8) and a hook receiving portion (9); and a position limiting slot (10) provided at a passage outlet (13) of a valve body (3). During use, the anti-theft cover (2) is connected to the passage outlet (13), and the elastic hook (7) is hooked to the hook receiving portion (9) and fitted to position limiting slot (10) to limit relative positions of the anti-theft cover (2) and the valve body (3). Also disclosed is a valve having the temper-evident device. The temper-evident device is easy to open and can effectively prevent stored materials from being stolen.

    • A system for verifiably locking a first cylindrical component to a second cylindrical component in a safe and secure manner.     • A cap permanently indicates the occurrence of tampering with a gas service valve. A substantially square base has intersecting slots differently sized to confine correspondingly sized valve cocks against rotational motion. A dome on the base covers the slots and the valve cock. Two ties of adjustable length secure the base against the valve body. The base, dome and ties are of material which is permanently altered by application of force to disorient the mounted cap sufficiently to permit operation of the valve cock. Removal of excess portions of the ties makes reuse difficult, if not impossible. The dome may be transparent so that the orientation of the valve cock can be observed without removing the cap from the valve. Markings on the dome indicate the orientation of the valve cock when the cap was installed.

    • The present invention provides a flow control apparatus and method. In accordance with the present invention, the flow control apparatus comprises a thermostat that automatically actuates valve to enable water to flow through the valve when the temperature of the air or water is at or near the freezing temperature of water (32° F.). When the temperature of the air or water rises above freezing, the thermostat causes the valve to close, thereby preventing water from flowing through the valve. Therefore, when the apparatus is coupled to an end of a water conduit, such as a water spigot or hose, water is allowed to flow through the conduit when the air or water temperature is at or near freezing to prevent the conduit from bursting due to water freezing and expanding within the conduit.

    • An apparatus for the collection of volatiles includes a housing that forms an environmental chamber. Dishes of test sample are placed in this chamber which is closed with a transparent cover. A gasket assures an airtight seal between the cover and the housing. The housing is supported on a stand that allows the angular orientation of the housing to be adjusted relative to the path of the sun. A jacket is also formed in the housing about the environment chamber. A heat exchange fluid is circulated through this jacket to maintain the environmental chamber and, thus, the test sample within a desired temperature range. Volatiles emitted by the test sample are collected by circulating air through the environmental chamber. This air which passes across the test sample dishes serves to sweep up the volatiles which are then delivered to a collection trap for qualitative and quantitative analysis. The collection trap is formed from one or more modules including a vessel or tube that is closed by a vapor collection adapter. An O-ring seal between the tube and vapor collection adapter ensures an airtight seal. The vapor collection adapter is also provided with cooperating ball and socket connectors on an outlet and inlet respectively that allow for connection of two or more modules in series as desired.
