摘要： Slider manipulation with precision alteration is described. In example implementations, a computing device increases a precision level of a slider to make selecting a specific value easier and more efficient. Initially, a user interface is displayed that includes a slider having a first precision level with a first granularity of values. The computing device detects a first user interaction that moves a marker indicative of a value along the slider. Based on a detection of a second user interaction, the computing device alters the slider to have a second precision level with a second granularity of values. Examples of second user interactions include a movement to some distance away from the slider or a change in speed of the movement. By making the second granularity lower than the first granularity, the slider having the second precision level is displayed with wider separation spaces between adjacent values.

The device detects a gesture on the value selection bar and, in response to, displays the value selection bar at a second length. While the value selection bar is displayed at the second length, the device detects a third user input that moves the value selection object within the value selection bar and, in response, enters a second value within the range of values into the first numerical value field based on a position of the value selection object on the value selection bar.

The plurality of user-alterable graphic user interface elements illustrate current weighting values, wherein the aggregate sum of the current weighting values comprises a particular value. A user then alters (102) a graphic user interface element, causing a change in the corresponding weighting value. The relative weighting values of the non-adjusted graphic user interface elements are stored (103) and then current weighting values for the non-adjusted elements are automatically adjusted (104) as a function of the user alteration and the stored relative value information.

The variable control has graphical representations of readily identifiable and easy to use controls. These controls include at least one text box to display a value. The displayed value can be set by default, or to show the current state of the control element. The variable control also includes at least one range box for assigning a range unit that corresponds to the text box. The variable control also includes a slider control that is linked to the text box and is used to make coarse adjustments to the value displayed in the text box. A spinner is also linked to the text box and is used to make fine adjustments to the displayed value. In a preferred embodiment, the user can select a digit or several digits within the displayed value and adjust only the user-selected digit or digits. Also in a preferred embodiment, the range box automatically updates the range unit when the displayed value is adjusted beyond a predetermined range limit.

摘要： Systems and methods for interfacing with playback of media by a media player are provided. By combining the functionality of fast forward and skip forward into a single button control, the invention reduces the numbers of control buttons that need be included on a device, reducing device costs and consumer “button overload.” In one embodiment, by pressing (and releasing) a forward button, media being rendered by a media player skips to a predetermined location in the media. By pressing and holding (and then releasing) the forward button, the media being rendered is fast forwarded according to algorithms for fast forwarding. A backward button covers skipping backward and fast reversing in a similar fashion. A device including a play/pause button and the described forward and backward buttons advantageously reduces the number of buttons required by two buttons.
